All right guy ,its time for a break from all the Payton Manning talk . The guy i'd like to talk about is a QB who will be available in the later rounds of this years draft . His name is B J Colman .
B J Colman played college ball for UT-Chattanooga but don't let that put you off the guy . He lit up the east-west shrine game and raced up many experts draft boards . After the combine the talk about Colman has calmed down a bit but he is still very much in my radar as a guy that ticks lots of boxes for me . His stats from last year don't jump off the page especially his TD to INT ratio but if you look at his QB rating for last year it is a very impressive 123.1
What would he bring to this team is a question i have been asking myself . Well lets just say at the end of the upcoming season Sanchez hasn't improved and the franchise wants to go in a different direction , Colman would have a year to learn the system and should give us a very good option as the next starter for the jets . The reason i think the guy could be ready is because of his performance at the east-west shrine game . He improved every day of practice and looked head and shoulders above every other QB there . He has got very good accuracy and zip to his throws .
One scout had this to say about Colman after watching his that week " Coleman’s release is compact, and he unquestionably has NFL-level velocity on every throw. He has missed high at times, but the more Coleman gets used to his new receivers here, the more on target he's looked "
Yes the guy is a project but maybe he could be a decent guy to have waiting in the wings . I'm certain he can bring some competition to the team and if he develops the way i think he should he could really become our QB in the future .
