this is my second post to ggn. my first, how to solve the nyjets pass rush without spending big, didn't go so well. i welcome all comments, good or bad. lets start and NYJETS ALL DAY!!!Now, let's discuss the positives. if we can somehow get him, we would be adding one of the greatest qb's of all time. he would give us extra leadership in the locker room, he could mentor sanchez way better then mark brunnll, and also i heard he would sign a incentive based contract, so he would come cheap. he could keep people like santonio holmes under control, lead the offense, and have another shot to win the superbowl. this could turn out to be one of the greatest fa signings in nfl history. However, there are multiple cons. for one thing, he is coming off multiple neck surgeries, 4 to be exact. nobody has any idea on how he could throw. most likely, he will never throw the same again. neck surgury is very serious stuff, and he probably had a lot of nerve damage. also, how will his arm be? he hasn't thrown for over a yr. we have no idea how his arm will be, and if he will pass the physical. his arm could be very weak by now. also, he is 36. most likely, one to two years if healthy. we need younger players, not older. we need youth Another thing, this would really hurt sanchez. he is our franchise qb, and i am sticking with him. however, if we bring in manning, this would really hurt sanchez's confidence. he might demand a trade, which would be bad. we have invested so much in him, it wouldn't make sense. he had a poor offensive line that allowed multiple sacks.(wayne hunter 8.5), brickashaw ferguerson(9.5 sacks), recievers that had trouble in coverage(plaxico had very hard time breaking away from coverage, only useful in redzone, because of this, holmes was constantly doubleteamed, and that's why sanchez threw a # of picks trying to make throws to both guys, also, kerley did not make an impact till the end of the season, and mason did nothing.) and shonn greene did not break out till late in the season. another thing, we hired tony sprano. he is a run first type of guy(i love the signing). why would we try to get manning if most likely we will run first? peyton passes first, then runs. it would be very unusual for us to hire sprano, and try to get manning. it wouldn't make sense. anyway would manning even want to come here? he would always be under eli's shadow, would have to get used to playing in the winter(lucas oil stadium has a closed dome), and would have to deal with rex, who has a sketchy past with him. overall, this signing wouldn't make sense for manning or the jets. we don't have much cash, and we have a lot more important positions to fill(o-line, wr, s, ilb, olb) it would be a dumb move for us. hopefully, we don't get him, and we rebuild this team in the draft/fa. i welcome all comments, and by the way NYJETS TO THE SUPERBOWL NEXT YEAR!!!!!
