I guess it is hard to distinguish between ranting and complaining about the actual move that brought Tebow in, and Tebow himself. I really dont like tebow as a starting qb, but he has proven to be efficient in the red zone, and as a role player. There have been many scenarios laid out, with Tebow as a role player, that would absolutely add another dimension to short redzone attempts, 3rd down and goal line situations, having him as the holder on P.A.T's and field goals, etc., etc... But will all the distractions and divide that Tebow brings along, outweigh the potential gains? I just feel, with the track record the Jets currently hold with controversy and the media spotlight, that this situation has a very good chance of causing another melt down in the locker room that will bleed onto the field again.
There is obviously no way to know how this will play out. Every Jets fan will be more than happy with tebow if our team is winning. I just think that many of the fans, including myself and the critics have seen how highly combustible situations have played out with this organization the last few seasons and have more than enough reason to skeptical and critical of another controversial big time move. This behavior started with Favre, and Tannenbaum and Woody haven't let up since. The majority of these high octane situations have ended badly for gang green.
I do see ways in which this was a "low cost high reward" acquisition , I am just very bothered by the timing, the current environment within the locker room and the potential for more commotion and disruption from inside and outside sources and players. This team has already shown that the spotlight and the media can have enough influence to effect the performance on the field and I just don't see how adding "tebowmania" to the mix will benefit this team enough to outweigh the collateral damage.
