According to the New York Post and NFL.com the New York Jets are among the teams interested in possibly adding Patriots running back turned free agent BenJarvus Green-Ellis. Other teams linked to Green-Ellis include the Bengals and of course the Patriots, who have limited reliable options behind Green-Ellis.

The Jets have not yet planned to meet with Green-Ellis and they may very well not, and the Patriots are still the favorite to land Green-Ellis this offseason. The Jets interest in Green-Ellis according to sources is "preliminary". For all we know this is a tactic to drive up his asking price, although I doubt the Jets FO is preoccupied with that right now considering everything else it has to deal with.

Perhaps the most attractive thing about the idea of Green-Ellis joining the Jets (besides taking something potentially useful from the Patriots) is that he never really coughs up the football, in fact in 53 games played and 510 rushing attempts, Green-Ellis has never fumbled. Over a 4 season career, Green Ellis has rushed 510 times for 2,064 yards and 29 touchdowns with a long of 33 and no turnovers.

Youth and ball security would be a nice commodity for this team, but I'm not sure the Jets can afford it right now.

How about you? Would you like to add BenJarvus to the team, or look elsewhere/focus on other needs?
