I think these are smart moves for the pats and definitely improves their team.
Patriots signed WR Anthony Gonzalez, formerly of the Colts.
Once one of the most promising young receivers in football, Gonzalez has seen his career all but ended by injuries. Primarily sidelined by knee issues, the 2007 first-round pick has appeared in just 10 games since 2008. If he can get and stay healthy, it's possible he'd be a shrewd low-cost flier on the Patriots' part, but he'll be far from guaranteed of earning a roster spot.Brandon Lloyd's contract with the Patriots is reportedly a three-year deal worth $12 million.
Lloyd indicated he would be willing to take less money to sign in New England, and is considerably underpaid relative to the market. Laurent Robinson, Robert Meachem, and Eddie Royal all received more lucrative contracts, and look to have guaranteed more money. The Patriots were able to avoid both a high cap number and long-term commitment.
