The Jets have reached out to Chad Henne and Drew Stanton as potential backup quarterbacks for Mark Sanchez.

Gang Green reached out to free agents Chad Henne and Drew Stanton, according to a source. Henne, who played for offensive coordinator Tony Sparano in Miami, is scheduled to visit the Jacksonville Jaguars and Seattle Seahawks this week, according to ESPN and NFL.com.

Jenny Vrentas says Henne is unlikely to end up with the Jets as he is looking for a chance to start. That is out the window after Mark Sanchez's extension. That is not the end of the world to me. I think of Henne as backup material and not better than Sanchez in any way. Where it hurts, though, is that it will probably scare away any high quality backup, which means the team is going to end up with somebody who is not very good, like Stanton. In four years, Stanton has four starts, a 55.6 completion percentage, 5 touchdowns, 9 interceptions, and a 63.1 rating. Yuck.
