The Texans recently released their starting RT, Eric Winston.
A little background on Winston, he is a third round pick out of Miami, in 2006 he is 6-7" and at 302 is a little on the light side. But what he lacks in size, he makes up for in speed, and agility, his combine 40 time was 4.94. He has also proven to be durable starting 87 of 92 games in his career. As far as i can tell from his stats, he didnt allow a sack for the whole year.
At only 28 years old, he is still in the prime of his career and and can anchor our right side for years to come. I would like to see him signed to a five year deal, with a team option for a 6th year. Id prefer Winston over my previous option of Jared Gaither.
I dont see Vlad the human turnstill being a viable option at RT. And if we want to see any progression out of sanchez, he is going to need time in the pocket. Vlad simply does not bring much to the table outside of being an extra blocker on run packages...not exactly the attributes of a 2nd rd pick.
Additionally, if we address RT through FA, thats another pick we can use on a LB, specifically that kid out of Arkansas in the third round.
