Jets Offense And Defense+ My First Mock Draft, And Free Agency.
In this post i will share my opinion on our offense, our defense, every position, Free Agency, and i will finally do my first ever mock draft and i will explain my reasoning after the jump.
QB- 1. Mark Sanchez
2. Mark Brunell
3. Kevin O'Connel
4. Greg McElroy
Alright, my opinion on Sanchez. First of all i just want to say he's not lazy. I get it, we want a Super Bowl. But i don't remember the last time we made it to two AFC Championships. Now that ground and pound is back, he could be more comfortable, and there won't be pressure on him. If we could just get an elite Running Back, then he could be very decent. He could also just take a decent Running back because LT doesn't want to play with us anymore. I want to revisit the lazy subject. He needs someone to push him. A backup. I don't want Chad Henne or Jason Campbell or any of those guys. Ok, think i'm crazy, i know, i know. I've had my eyes on Kellen Moore for the 7th round. He's short, sorda like a mini Tebow. It would be a nice QB for a backup. But if we did get Henne or Campbell or whatever ideas you guys have, then it wouldn't be dreadful.
Running Back- 1. Shonn Greene
2. Ladanian Tomlinson
3. Joe McKnight
4. Bilal Powell
The way LT has been talking, i actually don't think he's gonna retire. I think he doesn't wanna be with us anymore. He wants a Super Bowl. I don't blame him. And he deserves it, also with a GOOD LOCKER ROOM ATMOSPHERE. This causes for a 3rd down Running back. Hell i want Trent Richardson, but we're not gonna get him. He's gonna fall in the top 10 for sure. This has wait until my mock draft. So you will see.
eamWide Recievers- 1. Santonio Holmes
4. Patrick Turner.
Ok, this has issues. Santonio Holmes as a number 1 has it's ups and downs. He's a great and clutch WR. But if he really is a clubhouse cancer, than that is not good at all. If he is, then he should DEFINITELY be lower then number 1. Now, Plax at 2????? Ok, that's just a no. He did have some great catches this year, but the problem is, he's ONLY a Red Zone target. He's also getting older every year, and i want this team to stay young. Our number 3 receiver, Jeremy Kerley is the only Wide Receiver on this team i'm confident about. He was a rookie in 2011, and he finished the season on a hot streak while the rest of the team was rolling downhill fast. So a young, decent WR. I think he has the potential to be our number 1 receiver in a couple of years. I'm fine with number 4 i guess, there is no need for wasting our time and money on a number 4 receiver, and he is pretty decent for his spot on the depth chart.
Tight End- 1. Dustin Keller
2. Matthew Mulligan.
I like Keller alot. He's a great leader in the clubhouse, and he can catch pretty well. He's also Sanchez's favorite target, which could help alot these days, and his big body is good for blocking. Ok, get rid of Matthew Mulligan. I don't think i need to get into that. So as long as we get rid of Mulligan, i'm pretty happy.
Offensive Line- LT D'Brickashaw Ferguson
LG Matt Slauson
RG Brandon Moore
RT Wayne Hunter
Ok, Ferguson shouldn't have been in the Pro Bowl. But he wasn't necessarily bad this year. Just wasn't himself. So i don't feel a need to look into a Left Tackle. At Left Guard, we have had Slauson for 3 years, and for a once 6th rounder, i think he's pretty damn decent. He was drafted in 09 so he still have alot of years to come, which is also alot of improvement, i don't think we need to either look into that. Nick Mangold? We don't need to replace the best Center in the NFL. At Right Gaurd Brandon Moore didn't allow his man to get a sack all year. He is aging though, but we are 3 or 4 years from looking for a Right Guard. God help us, get Wayne Hunter OUT OF NEW YORK ( i wouldn't mind him going to the Giants though ). Really anyone at this point is a good replacement, so just don't have Wayne Hunter on the roster in 2012.
Defensive End- Muhammed Wilkerson
Mike Devito
This position has it's ups and downs. I like Wilkerson, i mean he was just a rookie this year. Devito didn't help as much as everyone thinks in my opinion. He's good at stopping the run, but i don't know. I'd keep Muhammed Wilkerson, and try to get someone for a replacement for Mike Devito.
Safety- Jim Leonard
I like Leonard at Strong Safety. But his contract is up, and i don't know if we can resign him at this point. We are low on cap space, so we will have to wait. Time will tell whether he come back, but like i said, i love his aggressive play type. Now, please please please cut Eric Smith. He really is no good, he sucks at stopping the run and he can't cover. Though he is decent at Special Teams, i think he needs to go.
Line Backer- Jammal Westerman
For the relevant ones at least. This is another up and down position. Westerman was below average this year. But we will get Bryan Thomas back who was out on IR this year, but he is aging. So that's an iffy spot. David Harris still has 7 or 8 years in the tank, still getting better, one of the most underrated Line Backers in the NFL this year. Now, someone PLEASE tell me why we want to cut him. Ok, we would lose money, he's not a bad player ( yet ), and i thought we needed a leader at this point. Pace is good when he has better players around him, so hopefully an improved Off Season will help. Maybin, a young rising star. Best thing we could have right now. Don't need to get more into that.
Our Nose Tackle is Sione Pouha, he's pretty decent, so i don't think we need to do anything in that position. But he is a Free Agent this year, and he's gonna want money. So let's just try to resign him and that position is fine.
Corner Back- Darelle Revis
Ok, Revis is the best Corner in the NFL. Period. Cromartie is an iffy though. He's kinda a bit of a lady man. He can be good in coverage, but some days he is always fouling. I don't think we need to waste the little money we have.
Round 1- Mark Barron SS
Round 2- Bruce Irvin OLB
Round 3- Doug Martin RB
Round 4- Tony Bergestrom OT
Round 5- Mychal Kendricks ILB
Round 6- B.J. Cunningham WR
Round 7- Tyrone Crawford DE
Note: I don't watch College Football. I don't know much information about any of these guys. I know the skills and talents. I took 3 hours trying to figure this out. If you wanna learn about these guys, look it up, i have never done a mock draft in my life.
FA- Dashon Goldson S
Braylon Edwards WR
Max starks OT
Matt McBriar P

I like the idea of adding Barron and Goldson to our star-studded secondary.
But, the Giants proved that you can have a below average secondary and still get to the QB. I don’t think Barron is worth a 1st round pick. We need to address the pass-rush in the 1st round, where we can get our hands on Whitney Mercilus or Melvin Ingram because a good pass-rush makes all the difference in this league. But, I guess I could live with that pick there. Rex Ryan coached Ed Reed, so if he thinks Mark Barron is worth the pick, I would be all for it.
do a little more research man
just sayin….you gotta do a little more research.
1. jeremy kerley will never be a #1 receiver. he’ll stay our slot receiver, and he’ll be a great slot receiver.
2. jimmy leonhard plays free safety, not strong safety.
3. mike devito should absolutely stay online, an extremely solid lineman. not everyone can be a pass rusher
4. Dustin keller is one of the best pass catching tight ends in the league
jimmy leonhard plays free safety, not strong safety.
maybe you should check this again

i want jeffery in green at pick 16

Barron is all hype he is a slow and bigger version of Smith
The Jets need to get faster in the back 7; the Jets are probably the slowest team in the league at the SAF position. IMO the smart pick would be Iloka would be a better match up against Jimmy Grahm, C.Gronkowski type TE, Iloka is faster and bigger he’d be able to hang in the hip pocket with those types. Then FS Christian Thompson a real sleeper South Carolina ST. 6’0" 213 projected 40 – 4.45, you can teach Technique but you can’t teach speed. I would also love to see Kelcie McCray Arkansas ST. 6’2" 196 projected 40 – 4.48. Markell Martin wouldn’t be bad either, BUT NO BARRON!!!!!! The Jets first if they can’t trade back should be Ingram with his versatility Rex could really be creative.
I’d be very interested in seeing George Iloka at FS and Gerald Alexander at SS. Alexander can play both in a pinch and is the vet to Iloka’s rookie. Plus, they’re both from Boise State (like Kyle Wilson). Just a thought but it would be very interesting to see them with Brodney Pool and Tracy Wilson to back them up.

1-Trent Richardson-forming a 3 headed monster with Greene and McKnight, he is the type of player a team can lean on
2-Zerbie Sanders-the oline needs some help, he would make a huge difference…the game is won in the trenches
3-Nick Toon-weather Plaxico stays or goes, the Jets need a young receiver to develop alongside Kearley
4-Michael Egnew-a steal this late, a big TE to replace Mulligan
5-Miles Burris-pass rushing OLB to compete with Westerman/McIntyre
5-James Michael Johnson-Stout ILB to compete with Mauga and replace Scott
6-Tashaun Gipson-big corner who could potentially play FS
6-Adrien Cole-Stout ILB to compete with Mauga and replace Scott
7-Adrian Robinson-pass rushing OLB to compete with Westerman/Mauga/McIntyre
7-Kenny Okoro-another big corner who could potentially play safety

My choices
1-Melvin Ingram (I just hope is there and runs really fast)
2-Shea McClellin (Destroyed Cordy Glenn and versatile)
3-Nate Potter (Much better pass protecting this year than last year)
4-George Iloka
5-Andrew Luck (I think he is going to fall in the draft)
6-RG3 (Will fall too)
I am too bored to do the rest
FA
Dwight Lowery
Sione Pouha
Peyton Manning
Drew Brees
Jason Campbell
Alex Smith
(We don’t have much QB depth)
Geoff Schwartz
DREW BREES ALEX SMITH AND PEYTON MANNING???
Uhhhhh……….
MARK SANCHEZ HAD BETTER STATS THAN TEBOW.
So either Sanchez is better than " second coming " or you have to admit that Tebow is no good.
Oh and Jason Campbell...

You can never have to many QBs
Like the 2 QB system in college, we could use all of them. Anyways, I was just kidding about half of it.
I like the free agency moves. Braylon must be resigned IMO.
I think barron might drop in the draft because of his injury and not being able to participate in the combine. Pass rusher in the 1st round, take a look at OL in the 2nd… but a WR or another defensive pick is more likely. Not bad for a mock draft though, especially your 1st.
Let's Make sure we play like the f***in NEW YORK JETS
and not some f***in slapd**k team!
Correction for Line Backers:
Someone PLEASE tell me why we would cut him
I meant Bart Scott.

Cost too much?
Cutting would cost alot of money. And he was as fast as last year. And he really didn’t suck at all. And didn’t play as much cause of David Harris.

He coats too much for a 2 down linebacker who cant cover anybody and isnt a sideline to sideline run stopper…
He only makes plays inbetween the tackles, he sucks
