Brian Daboll Goes to Chiefs as OC

What a relief! If the initial reports are true, Daboll is off the market and there is no chance he will be coming to the Jets to re-join Sparano. But that still leaves us with Cavanaugh - there are reports he is under consideration for some OC jobs as well in college and maybe Tampa Bay? So - does everyone else feel like we dodged a bullet? And do we think Cavanaugh will still be here in 2012?

The Jets' Plan for now is apparently to keep Cavanaugh

but in the world of the NFL, “for now” really doesn’t mean anything.

The Question is Who will be in charge of the Passing attack?

Maybe if Cavangh leaves, we could maybe give Haley a chance again as a QB coach-planner of the passing game?

There are rumors about him and the Steelers now.

He holds all the cards. The Chiefs still have to pay him in 2012 so he can wait for a job he deems attractive.

I'm very concerned by this inactivity.

This reminds me of the FO’s lack of attention last summer to the team’s needs. These are 2 glaring needs – Passing Game and QuarterBack Coach. What in the hell are they waiting for? I would love to see Todd Haley be our man. But it will never happen if we don’t get off our collective asses and dump Cavannah like yesterday. The Coaching Staff needs to be finalized and getting onto 2012 playbooks instead of falling behind the ball and playing catch-up. WE are setting ourselves up for failure at this rate.

Hopefully they’re addressing all these issues in one fell swoop, and writing up an offer sheet to Peyton Manning…

Or Matt Flynn. Or Kyle Orton. Or Jason Campbell. Or Shaun Hill.

Here are the problems with those QB's.

1. Peyton is coming off a major neck surgery and is 36 years old.
2. Matt Flynn was throwing to some very good receivers such as Jordy Nelson, Greg Jennings, and Jermicheal Finley.
3. Kyle Orton isn’t a very good QB and shouldn’t even be considered.
4. Jason Campbell is nothing more than a game-manager.
5. Shaun Hill should only be used as a back-up

we maybe waiting till after the SuperBowl.

There’s probably someone that the Jets have their eye on who is on staff of either the Pats or the Giants.

Karl Dorrell

I was reading Cimini’s blog and it mentioned that Sparano wants Dorrell who was his QB coach in Miami and Ryan wants to keep Cavanagh.

Dorrell is not a good coach at all and we all know what garbage Cavanagh is. Either way it looks like we are screwed because instead of looking at Hue Jackson or Haley we are stuck with Sparano and either Cavanagh or Dorrell.

Rex

does anyone besides me question Rex and his judgement if he cant see that Cavanagh is a terrible QB coach.

Rex has ties with Hue Jackson back to their Baltimore days. Why havent we hired him as he is a clear upgrade from either Sparano or Cavanagh.

by bklynbrewcrew on Feb 6, 2012 8:16 AM EST reply actions

Yes

I do. I love Rex in some ways, but seriously question his abilities as a HC in other ways. I don’t think he is a very intelligent man and that’s always gonna hold him and the team back. That’s not something he can change or control to a great deal, except to accept those ways/areas in which he’s likely to shoot himself (and the team) in the foot, and stay away from them. As Clint Eastwood (Dirty Harry) said in one of his movies, “A man’s got to know his limitations.” I don’t think Rex does.

He’s brilliant for the most part when it comes to defensive strategy, hiding his defensive player’s deficiencies/weaknesses. I’m guessing that he can’t help it that Tanny has done an awful job of getting him blue chip defensive talent to work with save Revis and maybe Wilkerson and Ellis. I’m not sure he’s the best judge of talent, however, and he doesn’t seem to have the ability to quickly sense when something isn’t working, either with his own decisions or approach to his own life, or with some strategy or plan of attack with the team. I don’t think he understands at all the pressure he puts on his players or how stupid he makes himself look when he makes all those predictions and shoots his mouth off to the media.

Supposedly, he learned from this past season and is gonna make a concerted effort to correct those things. For all our sake, if not his, I hope he can. I’d like to see him succeed both for his sake as well as ours. I’m just not sure that any offspring of Buddy Ryan will succeed as a HC. Apples don’t fall far from the tree. Buddy was a terrible HC.

Inexcusable

is the only word I can use if we keep Cavanagh as the QB coach. If this coach cant see that our QB has not been developed correctly by this idiot then I cant see him being our coach for much longer.

I too fear that he is just too much like his father in that he is a brilliant defensive coach but doesnt have any clue as to how to run an entire team or what a good offense looks like. You would think that since he has ties to Hue Jackson we would be looking in that direction but I havent heard any rumors to that direction.

Cavanagh is every bit as responsible for this offensive mess as Schotty was if not more so. Respected ex QBs like Steve Young, Trent Dilfer, and Phil Simms have all pointed out that Sanchez has been poorly coached but somehow Ryan and Tanny cant figure this out. Come on guys get a clue and hire Hue jackson and just dump this loser Cavanagh already.

Simply Amazing....

…..the light bulg flashed again in the front office today…..they came up with an idea. It has to be since they have guaranteed Wayne Hunter’s contract for next season. They wasted their time going back and forth over that instead of figuring out who should be managing our offense alongside of Sparano. Pure genius on their part. At this rate they’ll miss the combines in 2 weeks.
