T.J. Graham #6, WR/KR/PR, NC State
T.J. Graham is a return specialist who is not expected to be drafted until the later rounds of the 2012 draft. He has decent measurables at about 6'0" and 180 lbs. Also a track and field guy, he is expected to run in the 4.3s at the combine. Very fast.
More after the jump.
I bring him into the fold not specifically to highlight this player, but to start a conversation.
Drafting a guy like this in the later rounds may not solve everyone's desire for a top flight wide receiver but he could be a tremendous value to the team in other ways. First and foremost, he would provide instant and possibly elite (used lightly) competition at both returner spots. He would make Westoff very happy. The secondary benefit here is that he would free up McKnight and Kerley to simply concentrate on their roles on offense. Its very likely we will need McKnight as the 3rd down and change of pace back. Its also likely Kerley will see some time as the 2nd WR in addition to regular work from the slot. Finally, this guy is a burner who could be brought in occasionally on offense to stretch the defense on some go routes. And who knows, in years to come, he could be a very good, elusive receiver.
Just a few stats: In each of 2008 and 2009, Graham returned kickoffs for TDs. In each of 2010 and 2011, he returned punts for TDs. In 2011, he had 46 catches for 757 yards for a 16.5 per catch average and 7 receiving TDs.
What do you think about the benefits of adding such a player to the mix?

i dont know specifically about this guy, as i feel return guys are a bit a dime a dozen
but i dont mind the idea of getting a return guy specifically so that mcknight and kerley can focus on their roles
metsjetsknicksrangers.............can it get any worse?
Well that is more to my point
McKnight is gonna be needed at RB. Kerley is gonna be needed at WR. So to freeing them up from specials should be an important part of this draft. I think this guy could do it in one late round pick and still be a very interesting developmental prospect at WR.

Oh, his father is an indicted BALCO defendent so...
Thats nice. Maybe we can also pick up Davin Meggett, whose father former Jet and Giant Dave is serving 30 years for rape.
I owuldn't mind seeing what this kid has.
Is Davin Meggett a good prospect. I was coached by his father in college. Sad to hear what happen.

He played well during Senior Bowl week.
His speed will be coveted by teams like the Raiders and Steelers and he will probably be drafted earlier than he should. Unless he is somehow available in the 6th round or so, I say pass.

I Like Him
He’s got great speed, vision, good cutting ability, good run after the catch ability, doesn’t go down at first contact – is both elusive and tough, and is certainly a better prospect than Scotty McKnight. I think he’d be worth a 6th or 7th round pick, maybe even a 5th.

Compensation Picks :end of the Fifth,Sixth, and 2 in the Seventh
7 picks from the 5th round on !!
A major part of this draft for the Jets, is the bottem third, will you hit on all 7, no, but I think you on how the Jets should approach this part of the draft. If Graham can catch a punt, and return a punt he could have a job. The Kid is 6’0, nice height for a speedster that can threaten the top of the defense.
I Read
that the compensatory picks were likely to be one in the 5th, two in the sixth and one in the 7th. I guess we’ll know soon for sure.

I hope your right
What I think is important is 7 picks in the last three rounds, we may find out how good the Jets scouting really is… I would like a punter and possibly a kicker
Me Too ;-)
Yes, the important thing is that they probably will have 7 picks in the last 3 rounds and they’d better make good use of them.
Unfortunately, I think it will show how bad the Jets’ Scouting Dept. and Tanny are. At a minimum, they should definitely come out of those rounds with a P and K, but also a S, OL, and LB, but I’ll be shocked if they do. They quite possibly should also use one of those picks to take a QB, but I won’t be upset if they don’t.
Tanny had better not see that as an opportunity to trade the Jets’ own 5th, 6th and 7th round picks to move up in another round. Thank God he can’t trade the compensatory picks or he probably would.

Did you see the article today with Tanny & "his draft"
“Quality over Quantity”…..those were his words……which means simply= Screw Depth
I smell trade and its not down like it should be if we’re to be trading. Like I said in a diffeernt posting thread….the Rams are taking calls on their #2 pick……I’m sure Tanny will kick the Tires on that one….just like Atlanta did with Cleveland last year. He could be trying to make a statement over the Giants which could be a very bad gamble on such a long shot for 1 player at the cost of several.

Well, he put up at 4.41 40.
Seems like a lot of 40s are coming up a little short of expectations this year.
