i dont get J-Co

he though the was undervalued and not appreciated on the Jets but yet he goes to a team where he is the 4th WR and had his worst season statistically. i guess he just hated being a Jet.

by np3 on Feb 14, 2012 1:41 PM EST reply actions

He was injured and with the lockout, he had little time to learn the system

With Haley coming in, JCo will be on equal footing with everybody else in the system.

I dont think JCo hated his time as a Jet, he just felt disrespected. He knew the playbook as good as anyone, yet he kept getting passed over for guys all the time. Its funny, Braylon continues to get love in these parts and you rarely hear anyone clamoring for a class guy like JCo. Our locker room needs more JCo’s and less Braylon’s in my opinion.

Should you choose to test my resolve in this matter, you will be facing a finality beyond your comprehension, and you will not be counting days, or months, or years, but milleniums in a place with no doors.

I disagree. I think it should be the opposite, actually. We should have more guys that are dynamic on the field, and that can make plays that can bust a game open at any time and from anywhere. JCo is an aging possession guy thats sometimes clutch and sometimes has the dropsies.

by Crackback on Feb 15, 2012 11:01 AM EST up reply actions

JCo is being called the guy with the dropsies? LOL. He had that one bad game against the Packers but I thought he was pretty sure handed other than that game. And by saying more JCo’s, I mean high character guys. The obsession with Braylon is laughable around here. No other team wants this guy, there is a reason for that.

The article claims there are no excuses for Sanchez next year.

I’d like that in writing please…

Nope, GGN got its excuse....the return of Cavanaugh

Congrats to the Sanchez apologists. Here’s to another year of excuses. Meh.

I'm sure you won't agree but...

with a full offseason (training camp, etc.) and “expected” fixes to the O Line I’m willing to bet that Sanchez plays better (not elite but better). Also, I don’t think there are “Sanchez apologists” here…I think most of us just realize that a bridge without a proper foundation or support is bound to collapse (aka weak teachers in Cavanaugh/Schotty, lack of experience with 1 year of college, and lack of consistency in the rotating door receiving corp). If he had more ideal pieces around him and still performed the same and people made the excuses then I would say apologists but all the negatives around him are not created by the fans here…they are in fact proven by the track records/stats of the individuals people have pointed to.

by Mac N Cheese on Feb 15, 2012 11:40 AM EST up reply actions

Dalton was a rookie without a full offseason, he did alright. Alex Smith had to start over once again in a new system with a new coaching staff and without a full offseason, he did alright. Many other teams had problems on their lines (Giants and Pats among them), they did alright.

Not sure what having ideal pieces around are going to do about the awful throws to the feet or over the WRs head. Not sure what the ideal pieces are going to do about the QB who doesnt protect the football or throws INTs to defensive lineman.

Yes, you sir are one of the many that continues to make excuses for the biggest problem on our beloved Jets. Keep coddling the kid, it really is helping with his development.

Somehow you still missed the point...

just for a bit of background…Dalton has 4 years of college starts. Smith has been through the ringer of sorts and had 2 full years of college starts and about what…4 more years under center at the NFL level to get to this point. I dare say they had better guys teaching them and calling plays that suited them than Sanchez had this season. There is no coddling on my part…I’ve never said he needed to be babied but I do think that he needs competent people training him to play at the NFL level considering his background and his particular strengths and weaknesses. These are grown men making lots of money but common sense says if you are doing things the wrong way and the coaches don’t correct you or tell you it’s wrong you are not the only problem the team has. You assumemy ideal pieces statement just means the receivers…your assumption is wrong. Ideal pieces includes coaches that will try to properly utilize the pieces that are on the team. I tend to be in situations where I train/supervise people…the thing that I know to be true is that the people I’ve trained through the years may have come to me with the same rank, maybe the same amount of time but they were not always the same on how they learned, reacted to situations (stressful or not), or applied the knowledge they gained. So with that said please save the coddling comment…I don’t coach for the Jets, I don’t go on Twitter..so I’m not on there telling him he’s great despite a bad season, I’ve never met Mark Sanchez to so much as say “hi”. I am a fan just like you that has watched the games, read the commentary and come to my own conclusion that something or some things were wrong. My conclusion, Sanchez has some problems and needs proper help to fix them…what I gather your conclusion to be, Sanchez is incompetent and it doesn’t matter if his trainers are incompetent.

by Mac N Cheese on Feb 15, 2012 8:15 PM EST up reply actions

Your assuming I think Ideal players is just on WRs is dumb because I also mentioned the line too.

So going by what you are saying, its not Sanchez its everybody else. The coaches, the players, the media, twitter, fans. Sorry but I simply cannot agree with this. It doesnt matter how good the coaching or personnel is, if a player is unwilling to learn from his mistakes, its a downhill battle.

Dalton and Smith did have more college starts but this kid had been playing in the NFL for two years, plus playoffs. If you cant improve on anything after that many starts, you may not be the franchise QB everybody thinks you are.

BTW, not to be rude, but paragraphs are a good thing.

Let's be honest...

it was to be rude. It was an attempt to somehow prove you are intellectually superior. I’ll try to fix my paragraphs if that helps get my point across. I will however hope that you improve your comprehension of some of the things that I and others have written time and time again.

Absolutely nowhere in all of Gang Green Nation have I ever stated Mark Sanchez is completely blameless so in no way are you accurately going by what I said (quite honestly not even by what a lot of “Sanchez apologists” said). You seem to be going more by people not jumping on the “crucify Sanchez” bandwagon. If you really go by what I and others have said then you would pick up that it is a combination of things that we are pointing to. You say “Sanchez is just bad”, we say “there might be more to it…let’s make some adjustments and see if he can improve”. Sanchez is one of several things wrong on the offense but in the opinions of most of us “Sanchez apologist” our biggest problem wasn’t necessarilly him. Our biggest problem in most of the “apologist” eyes was a guy that had a HOF’er, the most accurate passer in NFL history, and lastly our struggling young QB and has only once been able to get our team in the top half of the league in offense during his tenure. Thankfully that individual is gone now. I think Sparano will do a better job as OC and helping Sanchez improve (if not for having more common sense just for the fact I don’t think he will coddle Sanchenz). If Sanchez doesn’t show improvement then more people will sway to the idea that he’s just not good enough.

One thing I am sure of regardless of what assumptions either us make is that we both want our team to win. Hopefully next year at this time we are discussing what needs to be done to repeat!

That mock draft...

has a weird little blurb in the beginning portion about the Jets. It said something about “the Jets may need to add a receiver depending on what happens with Holmes”. It was dated yesterday so I would think they would know at this point Holmes isn’t going anywhere and we need to add a receiver on the other side anyway. Other than that no problem with the expectation that we get Upshaw.

As for the Trading Places clip…still hilarious almost 30 years later. I found myself laughing out loud watching it.

I grew up only watching it on TV so the cussing still feels strange to me when I watch it now.

I don’t know if I enjoy the edited version of anything…that is unless it’s designed to be that way like a Reno 911 type show.

Oh Giancarlo Esposito,

how young you are in that clip. Little did you know nearly 30 years later you’d be playing Gustavo Fring, one of the greatest TV villains of all time.

Thanks for pointing that out. I didn’t even realize that and I’ve watched every episode of Homicide and Breaking Bad.
