Hi people. Bro tried this on the front page last Thursday. However, i believe that for this to be a thing that people can talk about any topic (ok, most topics, we'll get to that) whenever they want, this would need to be a FanPost. Now, this is a concept that many other sites are using currently, they are:
Jack-A-Thread (JAT) Off-Topic Activities (OTA) at Pats Pulpit: yeah, this is a pat fan thing. The guys there are nice as long as you check that "damn i hate you guys" attitude at the door. I agree it's a hard thing to do, so here are the others.

APC Open Threads at Acme Packing Company: Packer fans, very nice guys btw. I haven't commented there much, but they've been generally helpful when asked some questions regarding some guys.
NFC East Eternal Threads (bEAST) at Bleeding Green Nation: Well, i heard this is a colorful place, so be cautious if you are expecting pictures of cute little bunnies and stuff.
Official Community Thread at Niners Nation: Well, they have a no cursing policy, so maybe this is your place if you like bunnies and stuff. I haven't been there much, so i don't know.
(NEW!) CSC Lagniappe Perpetually Open Thread (POT) at Canal Street Chronicles: Well, they have a no cursing policy too, but i think it's a little more colorful then niners nation. Got to love any thread named POT, so yeah, it can't be too bad.
AFC South Eternal Thread at Battle Red Blog: I think was the first one, so you get fans from all teams, but mostly Colt, Texan and Patriot fans. The idea of this thread came form here, a lot of great guys here, besides pud, everyone else is great, just not pud.
So as you see, this is not an old concept. The point of this thread is for us as fans to get to know each other a little better, to get away from the seriousness that is this sites front page. You talk about any topic from football to seinfeld, especially seinfeld. You can post an interesting story the other day, some music that your listening too or a funny pic/gif/link that you found. If you are bored and are on your computer at 2 am, why not come by and schmooze here? Of course, this post is not off-limit to football, on the contrary, if you want to discuss something about browns, you can discuss them here. They are random, you know.
Now, the rules:
The rules that we have on the rest of this site apply here also. This is a family site, so keep it relativity clean.
No links or gifs that are not allowed anywhere else on this site. Don't say you didn't know, you have been warned.
Don't troll anywhere else, and try to keep arguments to a minimum.
Don't bother other fans who might come here. Try to check your hate for their teams at the door. This a friendly thread, be friendly.
Rec this thread so it stays up. It would be kind of annoying to try an dig this up, so rec this.
When a new one of these comes up, un-rec the other one, so we don't have to many of these in the reccomended posts at one time.

a question i posed on facebook but will reprint here......
Someone explain to me how to act: the knicks now are awesome and Jeremy Lin has dethroned the Dos Equis Man as The Most Interesting Man in the World (“i dont normally watch basketball, but when i do, i watch jeremy lin”) while the rangers are fantastically dominant have the best team in hockey. As a lifelong diehard metsjetsknicksrangers fan i have absolutely no idea how to handle sports success. Anyone have any quality advice???

A few things I want to get off my chest
1. I could care less about Whitney Houston or her death.
2. I’m sick of heaving about Jeremy Lin. I get it, he’s fantabulous.
3. Philadelphia sucks when it comes to getting good pizza. I haven’t had a decent slice of pizza since… well, a long f***ing time.
3.5. There actually is one good place that makes NY style pizza in Philly at Grant and Bustleton Ave called Vince’s, but their hours suck so I never get to go.
4. If your college doesn’t have a Division 1 Football program, it isn’t a real college. No exceptions. Yeah, the college I go to falls into that category.

jukes are forms of cockroaches found in israel. and by “froms of cockroaches” i mean cockroaches on heavy heavy amts of steroids and growth hormones w/ the ability to swim (so you cant flush em down the toilet) and sometimes the ability to fly. theyre also extremely quick and very difficult to kill. pretty much, theyre about the most awful creatures in the world. i am proud to say i was te local jukekiller of my aopartment and had at least a dozen kills to my credit :)

i killed that one my 2nd to last night i spent in israel (i was there for 3 yrs). i hadnt seen a juke in a while since i had moved out of my apt to the cleaner dorms. and then lo and behold, my 2nd to last night i get a call that the JukeKiller is needed. i did my job as best as i know how ;)

Yeah its an American Coackroach
Which incidently was brought over from Africa perhaps during the slave trade. Its larger than the little German and Asian coackroaches.
Oh, and they can fly.

thank goodness i never met a juke that could fly. i prob wouldve had a heart attack or something. we had everything at one point or another in my apt. mice, jukes, tarantulas, snakes, stray cats pooping on guys beds…..

just for your own insight when you eventually get to israel. if you encounter a juke, the best way to kill it is w/ the bottom of a gargbage can. if you try stomping on one a) you’ll prob fast as theyre quicker than jose reyes b) theyre stronger than a pro bodybuilder so you prob wont kill it either. if you use a garbage can tho it can work (larger surface area so speed matters less and slamming it 6 times should do the job). trust me, i’m an expert in the field

It took us a while to get ours going regularly in the beginning. It was just a random occurrence at first before it became a regular thing. Also, you may have picked a bad time of the year to start it. I think ours really started taking off when the Colts were poised to make their SB run a few years ago and there were a lot of people around just wanting to engage in some off-topic chatter. Maybe the upcoming draft will provide some general conversation as we get closer to the time. Keep it up, though. This thread still has more comments than any other fanpost that’s up right now. You can’t expect to start off getting hundreds of comments a day until it has a chance to catch on a bit more.

PEANUT BUTTER CAPN CRUNCH! And the best way to eat them is first you have to leave the box open for 3 days. Then when you pour them into your bowl of milk you have to let them sit for like 15 mins so the cereal turns soggy and the milk gets warm. MMMMMMMM

I really do like some stale foods
I know it seems weird but stale pretzels and chips are really good too. The trick with cereal is you have to let it get stale so it can turn chewy after it sits in milk for a few mins. You should try it…it’s really good.

Well, I did a little searching
It seems that the term horseback riding pre-dates the Americas. It also seems that not many horse riding enthuiasts say horseback riding here in the US. I for one don’t believe I have ever said horseback riding simply because I don’t speak of riding horses at all.
But I’d have to guess it might come from a city slicker distinguishing between horse wagon or horseback. Another possibility off the top of my head, since many Cowboy terms come from Spanish, perhaps its a translation of a spanish word.

fruit in general
is kosher. its meat and stuff like that where it gets a lot trickier. also, a dude a few wks back was quizzing on what beer is kosher. answer: pretty much all of it :)
