Potential FA OTs

I scanned every team's roster last night to find out who their UFAs are. I focused solely on the OT, S and QB positions. I came up with quite a few names, so I will break this down into a couple of posts. One for the OTs and QBs, and one for the safeties. Since I don't pay much attention to the rest of the teams in the NFL, there are a lot of players names I am unfamiliar with. I will post last season's and career stats for each candidate, and I welcome and encourage feedback from you if you've seen those players play and have a strong feeling as to whether they will be a good fit and will help the Jets. I don't know which teams employ a man blocking scheme on the OL and which teams employ a zone blocking scheme, so will count on you posters to say which players won't be a good fit in the Jets' new man blocking scheme.

I think most of these guys should be pretty cheap. None may be "the anwer" long term, but will probably be an upgrade over Hunter in the short term. If nothing else, they should be cheap depth and TC competition.

More after the jump.

MARK SANCHEZ HAD BETTER STATS THAN TEBOW.

So either Sanchez is better than " second coming " or you have to admit that Tebow is no good.

Not as easy as we thought it would be......

Doing a quick review of these guys it was sort of easy to see who had potential career wise and who was back-up depth. I voted for Richardson in K.C. before I did any research other than look at the stats there and his physical attributes. I thought based on those he looked promising. After doing a little research on the Chiefs site it appears he’s one guy there not interested in resigning. He’s apparantly worn out his welcome with both the Team and the fans over the last two years.

I then flew to Oakland to look over K. Barnes. Just a couple of side notes: 1) Put T. Branch – Safety on your future FA List – rated very High here 2) For anyone reading this I am at home still if you were worried I actually travelled to Oakland to get a personal scouting & workout of K. Barnes. I wish….
He is a very mixed bag of reviews. The Oakland line was rated B+ for this year and if you remember our game there. They ran the ball down our throats quite easily between McFadyn & Bush. However, what trademark have the Raiders been famous for or league best for the last 2 years? Friggin Penalties….they’ve drawn the most flags than anybody in the NFL over the last 2 years. They have always played undisciplined. So my point in this mini-rant. K. Barnes was a penalty machine in action for False Starts. Killed a number of drives with “Holds” that wiped out some major gains as well. So I’m not sure he’s our guy.

I tried to look up the Baltimore guy. He was a veteran and I thought he might be a nice stop-gap if we drafted somebody. But on the Colts site their Archives are full of shit about some QB who might or might not comeback and should the Team cut him or trade him and if they do will the city that he personally built rise up and burn down the stadium and if all this should haappen will this QB’s brother who is a QB who can now walk balanced because of a new shiney ring on his other hand to match the other shiney ring on the other hand be upset by the way the Colts treated his brother with just one shiney ring? Stay tuned.

So I really think we need to find another guy….maybe via a trade and for sure draft.

Good Work

Thanks for the research into Richardson. I voted for him too because he’s even younger than Collins. Did it say why he had worn out his welcome? Is he a bad character? Does he get a lot of penalties or make dumb mistakes? Was he a malcontent because the team was losing this year? Maybe Sparano and the new OL coach can help if his “issues” aren’t serious. If they are, then I agree we should definitely look elsewhere. Collins may be the better option anyway.

Diem might not be able to play OT any more since he played OG with the Dolts, but if he can, his experience and flexibility could be a very good addition. Also, O’Callaghan and McQuistan have a lot of experience, and at 28 they’re still young enough to play well for another 4 years at least, possibly longer.

Richardson is an idioit !

Didn’t he get in a shouting match on the sideline with a coach during a game. I’ve also heard that he is a revolving door when it comes to pass pro. I voted Barnes he’s a big nasty tough guy; the penalties can be fixed. The Jets need a mauler at RT somebody who knocks their guy down into the dirt, Barnes would do that. FYI no frigging colts OL guys they are old and small

Don't Know

Someone said he had worn out his welcome in KC. Sounds like he may be a jerk. We have enough of those already. If Barnes isn’t too expensive and the penalties can be fixed, then OK, I’d gladly welcome Barnes.
