Draft Prospect : Eric Page , WR , Toledo
Height: 5-10. Weight: 192, Projected 40 Time: 4.40.
2011 stats : 125rec 1,182yds 10 TD's
2010 stats : 99rec 1,105yds 8 TD's
2009 stats : 82rec 1,159yds 7 TD's
Eric Page is a guy who has eye popping stats in his 3 year college career . He was given a 4th round grade when he signed up for the draft. When i looked at the above tape on him mt first words was " WOW ".
Page is seen as a slot reciever in the NFL and although we already have Kerley i think he can bring something to our team . WE also have the option of using him as our return man , giving Joe McKnight more time to concentrate on what should be a heavier work load next year . Page has been compared to his fellow Toledo WR Lance Moore but he should have a far bigger impact in the NFL than him. The guy runs very good routes , has great hands ( as can be seen catching those punts onder lots of pressure ) , and has a great combination of speed and agility .He has a great work ethic and is a very high charater guy ( something we need more of in our locker room ) . He is also tougher and more durable than his size suggests . In 2010 he was first team All American kickoff returner .
The guy also threw for 4 TD's so he could also be used to run the wildcat and give us a decent passing option . He is very good when put into motion and excels against zone defence , always seems to be able to find a hole in coverage .
He could be a very good mid to late pickup and in my eyes would represent excelent value from the 4th round onwards .

Heres my Draft analogy
im thinking with all the holes the Jets have ( LB/OL/Safety/WR/ and HB to an extent) that Tanny just may trade out of the 16th pick IF he can pick up two 2nd rounders for it, I know we like Safety Mark Barron but personally I dont think hes worth the 16th pick and if we take Burfict/Richardson at 16 will Barron be there at round 2 #16? if Tanny swings a deal like i mentioned, that could possibly give the Jets a total of 3 second round picks to work with and hopefully one of those is “early” 2nd round so we can take Barron and then address LB in the mid 2nd, there are quite a few “solid” LBs in this class like Travis Lewis of Oklahoma or Zach Brown of NC that should be there in the 2nd…with the disappointment of Vlad Ducasse being taken by us in the 2nd round 2 years ago Im not sure if the coaching staff has given up on him, i noticed he had gotten better as the season progressed with more playing time as our 2nd TE in Jumbo sets, maybe not having an offseason last year really affected him and stunted his growth, Ducasse is a mauler and he excells at Run Blocking, with Sparano on board maybe we dont even take an O Lineman until the later rounds seeing as next year we WILL be pounding the ball around 70% of the time

about trading back
we can trade back to 26 and get another 2nd . if we trade back from 16 (1000 points) to 35 ( 550 points ) that team would have to give up their 3rd ( 225 points ) , their 4th ( 104 points ) their 5th ( 41 points ) 6th ( 26.2 points ) and next years 4th

well thats even better than i thought
at 26 we KNOW that Barron would be there and thats a comfortable pick for him, and to add another 2nd would just be sweet, we would have two 2nds and in that round pick up the best LB prospect and then maybe Michael Floyd at WR if hes still on the board…im all for trading down in this years draft

I read that whole thing
but I never did see the analogy you promised.

No thanks.
We don’t need that size and type player. Kerley and McKnight are already on the roster and better players. Kerley is a budding star in the slot. We need size at that position.
agreed
i hope the Jets dont reach for another “small” slot type WR, we need a bigger WR with good potential on the outside

you could argue page is better than kerley
and that page could be better than both of them in the return game and the wild cat . i agree we could use someone bigger at WR but we have more than one pick meaning we could draft another WR also .
if you believe we have better players on the roster and that’s how you judge using picks in the draft , i’d be interested to hear your list of players we should draft with
our 4th
our 5th
our 3 6th round picks , and our
4 7th round picks
i research a lot and would struggle to find 9 players to draft that would be better than what we already have . so under your criteria feel free to fill those nine spots .

Speed versus Size
When you get to the 4th round, big WR’s that can play are rare. Brian Quick from a small school like Appalachia State could possibly fall, but he is a project.,or Greg Childs from Arkansas coming off a serious knee injury, but there is risk..Sometimes you need to look for guys who can Play. The Patriots play with Two big TE’s and a couple of slot receivers, Buffalo moves the ball with low round small receivers, the Steelers WR’s are small but fast.Page and possibly Jarius Wright of Arkansas gives your offense more speed and more big play potential.
Page vs Kerley
Hard to make that arguement stick. How can you comparfe a possible 4th round pick for a guy who played last year and in my opinion was underused. If we had an OC and QB worth a damn we would have seen a lot more out of Kerley
yes kerley was underused but that was more Rex's fault than BS
rex brought in mason to play the slot . and your point actually makes my point easier to prove for the simple fact the you can say a 5th round pick ( kerley ) should have got more playing time ( underused ) ahead of mason ( a consistently decent wr ) .

I agree 4th and 5th is where you add depth
but those 6th and 7th round picks may not even make the roster and/or ever see the field. I like the fact about adding depth but as you were saying i’d like to see a big sized guy early and then some OLB and OL depth. I think that a guy like this, though versatile, is not pressing. I understand the depth thing too.
As of now we roll with-
Holmes
Keller
Kerley
Cumberland
McKnight
Turner
Braylon if resigned
and said draft pick.
I don’t know i’m no expert i just think there are pressing needs at other positions including depth that need to be addressed before this type of pick.
but we have no depth in the slot or at returner especially if we let leonard go
yes we could possibly move holmes but then who takes his spot and how much will holmes want to help out the team by moving to play in the slot . and page will cost less than turner and will cover more positions on the team depth chart

I see what your saying.
But i disagree. The rounds your talking about is where you find gems. Sometimes you get lucky. This specific position is filled already. Do we need two small guys to play the slot? Holmes isn’t that big either. I’d rather resign Braylon and draft a big receiver. They are out there to be had.
As far as Page being better. Not in my eyes but hey i’ve been wrong before. I just think they just scrathed the surface with both Kerley and McKnight. Bringing in another small guy is not for me.
if kerley gets injured who replaces him
the rounds i’m talking about is not where you find many gems but in fact used to add depth to a team or to find guys to develop . there is no guarantee that kerley gets better but having a guy to push him will help . he could also be used as our returner meaning kerley and mcknight would be fresher and at less risk of injury .
a guy like page is so versitile that he helps depth at about 4 spots on the team at PR ,KR ,WR and wild cat and all for a 4th or 5th round pick . now that seems like a very valuable use of a pick in the middle of the draft .
and remember depth was a major for us last year .
i’m not saying we should draft this guy , i’m just putting up film of guys who i have be impressed with and gives us depth . and in that film he is certainly impressive

I don't know...
When you look at the stats from the one game in the video it’s kind of impressive. He seems to get open but I lean towards the thought that he’s not the guy this team needs. The only way he would be at his size is if he was able to play like Steve Smith (Carolina). Just my thought.
i'd be perfectly fine w/ picking him, i like what i see
however that’d be contingent only on us drafting him b/c we want depth. frankly, this offense has no depth and going into next season we’ll prob only have 2 quality wr’s (holmes and kerley) so i see no reason to not pick him up. that being the case, if we’re picking him up to take over burress that’d be a huge mistake
metsjetsknicksrangers.............can it get any worse?
i see him strictly as a slot wr and returner
i agree those aren’t massive needs but i think he does add valuable depth to the offence .
if kerley got injured i think page could easily fill in without a drop in production for the offence

even w/o that
i’d love to see an offense here that goes 4 deep at least at wr. when was the last time we ever had that? meanwhile, if he’s not gonna be a #1 guy (which i’m perfectly fine w/ coming from a 4th rounder) than he’d be lining up in the slot anyhow, which would be terrific. frankly i’d be perfectly cool double dipping at wr
metsjetsknicksrangers.............can it get any worse?
yeah
we could also try and re sign edwards cheap and either go big and draft a wr like jeffery or sanu in the 1st ( sanu by trading back ) or getting a guy like kerse in the 6th round .
holmes
edwards
kerley
page
jeffery/sanu/kerse
i’d be very happy going into a new season with our group looking like that . having 3 young guy is an added bonus meaning they would hopefully stop us from needing to dfaft a wr for a few years or give us the ability to get rid of holmes next year if his attitude doesn’t improve

but dang, page had 12 catches for 145 yards and 2 td’s against them

Looks Like a Great Prospect
Thanks, Tinley for sharing this. I’d rather have a taller WR, but would be happy to have him.
A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury.
