Kim Jones reports the Jets have asked the Giants for permission to speak with their Director of College Scouting Marc Ross about the vacant general manager position in Florham Park.

Have learned: The Jets have asked for permission from Giants to interview NYG director of college scouting Marc Ross for their GM job.

Ok, what is this team, and what happened to the Jets? They make a clean and quick break from a general manager who was not working out, and within hours are targeting highly qualified and highly regarded people as potential replacements? It is almost like Woody Johnson suddenly decided he wanted to be in charge of an honest to goodness quality NFL franchise.

Firing Mike Tannenbaum and reaching out to quality candidates is the easy part. It is going to be much tougher to find the absolute best fit and convince that person this is the job for them. So far, so good, though.

Edit: Giants reporter Ohm Youngmisuk reports the Jets have been granted permission by the Giants.
