Well Woody decided that it is indeed time to move on and replace the GM of the Jets. I have been wanting to replace Tanny from the beginning of the season and though this is a good move it is far from the only move that is needed. The new GM has to have the power to replace anyone in the organization including the owner. lol
Of course that won't happen but anyone else is replaceable including Rex. Yes Rex is a good coach but a HC needs to be more that just a good coach, he is responsible for the team and anyone involved in its betterment. Rex let a sewer to brew in the locker room in 2011, in 2012 the lack of depth, player development, bad play calling, bad team management, and blind loyalty came full circle. If he can't become a good HC and he should just be a good coach and go back to being a DC. I became a Jets fan in part because of Rex and Sanchez, and I am disappointed in both of them. Now I am hooked on being a Jets fan and want something great from this organization.
We desperately need better player evaluation and development. Our drafts has been average or poor lately and is it because of bad evaluation or development, or both. He get all pumped up after the draft and have high hopes and get disappointed. Many here have good knowledge of players in college and you guys have impressed the heck out of me by the knowledge here. I agree with many, like we dont need to waste a high pick on a RB or a WR. These are skilled position but if evaluated and developed well good player can be had in the later rounds. I posted in preseason that my son in law who played in college then got his knee blown our became a conditioning coach and spent time in Florida Atlantic and in the first game Alfred Morris started in preseason texted Brian my son in law and said that he was starting and he was excited and wish him well. I became an Alfred Morris fan since then and we have been cheering him on since, look at him now and a 6th rounder, of course some might say yea the skins got lucky with the 6th rounder. Yes they did and there is an old saying that says the better I get the luckier I get. So the better the organization gets in evaluation the better their chances of getting a diamond in the rough. Some of us have been saying how come the Jets don't get a diamond in the rough, probably because of poor evaluation and development.
We have a long way to go and in any job or sports, its what have you done for me lately, 2009 and 2010 is long gone and its time to build a good organization from top to bottom. We are going down hill the past 2 years, our veterans are getting old and if we don't right the ship soon it could not only be a long 2013, it could be a long rest of the decade. I hope we can we get competitive soon while our somewhat young players like mangold, brick, revis, cro, are still playing good and they are healthy. Our D line looks encouraging with youth and developing well. Now is the time to evaluate, develop and get good coaches to do it.
