I was inspired by a post in another thread reminding us that "Tannenbaum" means "Christmas Tree" in German. So, I offer for your approval a Christmas carol for our time of woe. Please feel free to add verses and improve upon it to your heart's desire. Catharsis is good for the soul, especially at the end of the year.
Carol of the Jets (2012)
First Verse
O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum,
We sing in mournful measure.
O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum,
Our voices cry displeasure.
You gave us hope
Good times were nigh.
Then dropped us Tebow
From on high.
O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum
We sing in mournful measure.
Second Verse
O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum
You spent to lock up players.
O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum
You gave us only prayers.
We pray that Mark
Departs this wreck,
Along with Bart,
Pace, Matt , Eric.
O Tannenbaum O Tannenbaum
You left us only prayers.
Third verse
O Tannenbaum O Tannenbaum
For 120 days we’ve fasted
O Tannenbaum O Tannenbaum
By Woody be you blasted.
Back to the shelf
From whence you came
A dunce’s “cap”
To bear your name.
O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum
Our year again you’ve wasted.
