New York Jets player awards.

Even in such a horrible season, you have to pull some light out of it. In this post I will give my opinion on who wins MVP, Rookie of the Year, Most improved player of the year, etc. I will also give explanation on why I believe these players deserve these awards. ( As of Week 17 ).

MVP: I had only 2 candidates on this one, which were David Harris and Muhammad Wilkerson. But in the end, after several stat comparisons, I picked Muhammad Wilkerson to be the New York Jet MVP for 2012. It always felt like he was the one putting pressure on the QB, and he got 5 sacks compared to David Harris's 3. Muhammad Wilkerson even had more passes defended than David Harris, 4-3, also adding 3 fumbles forced on to that. Muhammad Wilkerson stats

Most Improved player of the year: Jeremy Kerley. His stats improved a ridiculous amount from last year to this year. He went from 29 receptions to 53, targeted from 46 times to 91, yards from 314 to 739, and 19 to 29 receptions for first down. Jeremy Kerley stats

Rookie of the year: Obviously, I think from just watching the games, you could tell it was Quinton Coples. He consistently put pressure on the QB when he rarely came in. 5.5 sacks. 2 passes defended. 20 tackles ( with the playing time he got, that was pretty good ). So he won by a landslide. Quinton Coples stats

Bust of the year: Mark Sanchez. A QB rating of 67.9, 17 interceptions, 8 fumbles, 54.8 completion percentage, and 2,678 yards. There were other candidates, but not one other that could match this disaster. Even last year, he wasn't horrible. He just wasn't good, he was around average. This year, he was the worst Quarterback ( except for Ryan Lindley ), that I have ever seen in my life. And on top of that, he's guaranteed over 8 million next year.Mark Sanchez stats
