Braylon Edwards looked good

It's not going to help those of us with heavy hearts after seeing the Jets eliminated last night in an awful display of offensive incompetence. Nor will it bear much notice following that disastrous performance, now with the news that Mark Sanchez is benched and that Greg McElroy will start at QB next week. Likewise, almost all of the discussion beyond what happens the next two weeks relates to how the Jets will deal with a very problematic QB situation in 2013.

However, let's not entirely ignore that after much speculation and controversy surrounding the Braylon Edwards signing that he played very well last night. Ordinarily, one should not get excited about a 3 reception, 47 yard stat line, but considering that he was just signed the past week and had a bad hammy that his prior team expected to keep him out for the year, it is actually very impressive. As importantly, he looked good. On one reception he elevated and reached back athletically to reel in a high and off center throw. He also looked active as a blocker. All told, he was in on over 60% of the offensive snaps.

Not too bad for a guy who seemed washed up. Now, I am not saying he should be offered any sort of guaranteed contract, but how he does should be monitored for the remaining two games. If he can keep it up, I would be glad to see him on the team next year, as long as he also keeps out of trouble.
