A short week leads into what should be a great game. When we last left off our tale of two divisional rivals, the Jets came into the house of the Pats and came inches away from shocking them at home. Now the Pats have to go into their house, without TE Rob Gronkowski, without LG Logan Mankins, without DE/OLB Chandler Jones, and still somehow pull out a win when they barely won the last time around in more favorable conditions. TE Aaron Hernandez and S Patrick Chung may be coming back from injury or they may not be.
Something to watch out for: The Patriots secondary. Huh?! It's a short week, and Sparano will have to get his unit ready to face a more aggressive Pats Pass-D. CBs Aqib Talib and Alfonzo Dennard(rookie) both returned interceptions for TDs, the first time that has happened for the Pats since 2002. Rookie S Tavon Wilson snagged his 4th interception of the season. Former Jet Marquice Cole began training camp as a dark-horse and has fought hard for snaps, impressing with his coverage to the point that he's either the 3rd or 4th CB and not looking bad at all. The Jets O should feel confident returning home but they better do their homework or Devin McCourty's unit is going to find a mistake to take advantage of. If the Pats had this secondary last season they would have snagged one more ring for Rex Ryan to not kiss.
The Pats blitz?!: With Chandler Jones likely down look for the Pats to make up for the pass-rush by getting more creative. If I had to take a guess where the pressure may come from I would say they'll look to take advantage of the G's, RT, and blitz-pickup.
Depth at TE: The Pats may not have Rob Gronkowski available but they may get TE/WR/RB/FB Aaron Hernandez back. They also have Daniel Fells, Visianthe Shiancoe, and Hooman(#47) as depth. Look for the recently-activated Shiancoe to get his opportunities in the receiving game.
Keys for a Jets Win:
Limit Welker, limit Lloyd, limit the Pats run-game, run the ball effectively, and don't turn it over.
