Some say draft, some say development, some say coaching, some say 2 of three, some say all three, I'm on the side that says in a way all three. I won't make nasty comments about our FO but I feel they are to blame. Why does it seem that when teams lose a starter a good one or an all pro they don't skip a beat and still win. We lose a starter and we search of a FA that was never signed because of personal issues or not good enough or the waiver wire. Or a team can let go a all pro player who wants more money and can replace them and still make the playoffs or SB. Like the Pats they let people go and they don't miss a beat. Of course they miss on draft picks but still pick up those rooks who start. The Packers played 4 rooks on defense in a game I saw the other week. We have the apologists who say it takes time maybe a couple of years. OK I'm still waiting, our 1st round draft picks need to step up. OK if they are good picks then our development sucks, Wilson our future CB, Sanchez our future QB, Wilks our future DE. I really like Wilks and thought wow this guy is going to be awesome this year, what happened? Coples is a rook yes but some rooks are already making a difference, let the guy play or are we going to cause him to lose it his skills or desire. Then there is Vlad, some say this guy is going to be a beast, beasts make a difference from day one at at least year 2. Ellis look good in the preseason and I even said wow, our DL is going to be huge for us. I was hoping we start Wilks, Pohua, Ellis, and Coples in a 4-3. With Dunbar as the coach I thought we were going to look at least like the Rams did thursday. Seems Coples and even more so Ellis don't play much. Is our talent that bad or is Dunbar just having a tough year.
Coaching can also make a big difference, Fisher came to the Rams and so far is making them winners, the players even said they are playing hard for him and having fun again. Schotty still sucks as the Rams offense looks bad, but man that D is playing well. The only name I know is Chris Long. The Pats and Belicheat just keep on winning every year making the playoffs or SB losing players and not signing some all pros because they want too much money. The Ravens every year I keep thinking they are getting old when are they going to decline, they keep winning. The 49ers, got a new coach and they right away had an awesome year and the QB I thought was a bust looks good and a game manager. Good coaching, good player development, with a good FO makes it all happen. So many other teams have this, how come we are not like the top organizations.
Some say look we made the AFCC two years and last year 8-8 isn't too bad. I agree it was a good and we still have most of the core but why are our draft picks if there were good not developing, why is the team even though we improved our team speed still look slow (I think its our LB's). Why are we not playing the younger guys to develop them and our future. I don't want to hear they have potential and it's still a project, this is the NFL and its time to win or go home. Even if by some miracle we make the playoffs, we still need to improve as an organization to keep up our winning ways or is it we don't know how. Are we headed to misery. I only became a crazy fan since 2009 when Rex and Sanzhez came to town and have heard the saying, Same Old Jets that I have not experienced and don't want to. The hope is that we are not headed down that road, but again we must improve as an organization. As a fan I only know the Jets as winners and it will hurt to see a decline to SOJ.
So what do you think is the cause of our underachieving team and FO? Or if everything is fine in Gotham tell us why.
