I'd like to do a short introduction, so for all the members to understand who i am, and at the same time explaining why my football knowledge and my english is limited.
First of all i'm living in Switzerland, and am following Football for quite some years. Unfortunately, doing so from Europe is a tough thing. For many years i've watched just the superbowls, as it was the only coverage we could get. I saw most of the last 20 Superbowls. This often includes taking half or the full day off, because kickoff is after midnight. After a few years, some channels started to cover some Playoff games or showing some longer recaps. The first recap of a Jets Playoff game, was probably against the Jaguars with Testaverde in 1999 (i definitely remember Testaverde). During these years of just seeing a few Playoff games and Superbowls, following emotions came through:
- Somehow i liked the Jets. I always liked New York in contrast of many young people in Europe liking LA at that time
- I wasn't really into the Giants (nor i am for the Yankees or the Rangers)
- I never liked the Patriots, even before understanding the rivalry
- I didn't like the Colts either
- I always had a thing for struggling teams
For some years internet was helpful and 3 years ago, finally, we could get something like ESPN America, i have ESPN America at home since last season. Therefore following football became a lot more easier. I'm reading here at Gang Green Nation for about 3-4 years now. Ever since i have the opportunity to follow the NFL in an appropriate way, i realized i could contribute here, especially after watching some full Jets games.
That's about it. By the way, thanks for the site and all contributors, as it was my main reference to the Jets and its games. A recap on the NFL site does not tell the full story. Horrible thing though to follow a game through the NFL site (Gamecenter) and the game Threads here...
Another time i'll tell you why i can relate to the Jets Fans a lot.
