Detroit Lions at New Orleans Saints Game Thread
Tonight's second game of the NFL Playoffs might feel unusual for Jets fans. It features two teams that consistent complete forward passes, a concept that likely feels alien to Gang Green fans. The Saints and Lions could very well light up the scoreboard in the Superdome tonight with their high flying passing attacks.
I think the smart money for this one is on the Saints. They are extremely difficult to beat on their home field. Their advantage is only magnified in a game like this. It is also unclear how the Lions, a team with a number of young players holding down key spots will respond to such an intense environment in the biggest game many of these guys have ever played. Beyond this, Drew Brees is just playing unbelievable football. He is going to be very difficult to beat.
Enjoy the nightcap, and leave your thoughts on this NFC clash below.

Don’t know why, I got nothing against the Saints. Generally speaking, I’m a fan of the underdog.

Damn we really need a Calvin Johnson
Watching that dude run is like watching a big cat run. He’s really smooth and effortless but wicked fast….
A Matthew Stafford who is so on target with his passes wouldn't hurt either.

The Pepsi Max commercial with the Jets in it
seems like it’s on every other break…..it’s just not cool right now with the team out and all.
Really any number of these throws he's making.

Throwing to Johnson helps some, it’d be interesting to see Sanchez with talent like that…then it’d be clear if he had the makings of a good qb or not.

Pepsi
I agree about that commercial im tired of it too.. but what they did not show is the second half of that game in the commercial where the jets played the second worst half of football we have ever seen..!!!
Kinda, I felt the same about the Rams HC and Schotty

You can see the obvious difference in arm strength between a decent arm like Mark's and a cannon like Stafford's
by J-Nasty on Jan 7, 2012 9:10 PM EST via mobile reply actions
Mark does have a really good arm.
Just look at last years highlights
by jets4life24 on Jan 7, 2012 9:18 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
I thought for sure we'd hear about Mark doing PT or surgery on his shoulder
His arm strength didn’t seem like it was even close to what it was at the beginning of the year
Even last year, the difference is obvious
Mark never put the zip on balls that Stafford does. Never ever. Stafford has prototype, elite arm strength.

Well yeah, that’s why he was drafted #1.

Brees completed 15% better than Sanchez lol

Report: Jets QB coach Matt Cavanuagh expecting to be fired.
Saw this on rantsports… I also heard we are looking at sprano and some other guy for OC

90% of Brees’s throws are 40 yds down field.

both offenses make ours look like a pile of poop.
i’d love for the jets to snatch the OC for the saints… but he is either staying in New orleans or becoming a head coach
So,
We are about to finish up the 7th quarter of Wild Card Saturday, on a scale of 1-10, how exciting has it been?
I don't care what people say about me and i will keep doing what i enjoy.
0, because the jets aren’t playing

Schotty needs to be Shot-y
If our offense was half as efficient as these two at moving the ball we wouldn’t be in bad shape….I find it hard to believe we led the league in red zone efficiency..It must be because we make it to the red zone less than any other team..
Schottenheimer's whole offense is short yardage
He should be great at red zone offense. He never calls a play longer than 20 yards anyway
Do you guys see Brees looking downfield on EVERY DROPBACK???
If its not there, THEN he checks down. I swear if we had Darren Sproles he’d probably be our leading receiver lol.
That was a horrible throw!
See what pressure does…..even to a Drew Brees. Sanchez gets pounded into the ground every other time he drops back!
Watching this game is painful
and it makes it hard to believe that drew brees was actually considered a bust after his time in San Diego. My solution: fire schitty
As of now I’ll take Sanchez’s 3000 yds and his 4 playoffs win over Stanford’s 5000 yds and no playoffs wins

How about andy daltons nice rookie campaign
Only to stink it up vs Houston. He was moping like a little girl after his interception to Watt. Welcome to the playoffs kid, the land of winners.

Stafford did more for his team to win than Sanchez did in any playoff game he's played
28 points would’ve been enough to win every playoff game Sanchez played except the Colts game. He threw one bad pick but otherwise he was great. Sanchez has been a bus driver. This would be a better team with Stafford, no question, if he’s healthy.
by J-Nasty on Jan 8, 2012 2:46 AM EST via mobile up reply actions
I'm mixed here.
Stafford + Schotty = ?
You think Stafford would have survived behind our line this year?
I’m not knocking the kid’s talents either, but… there’s no good way to compare the two side by side.
Wrong. Sanchez led the drive that put is in fg range to beat the colts, he dominated early against the Pats and gave us control of that game, and his performance against the Steeelers in the title game was as, if not more solid than Stafford’s tonight.
by SioneBAAOOOHA on Jan 8, 2012 7:49 AM EST up reply actions
Stafford is a really good QB
But some guys just win games and that’s what Sanchez does. You can say Sanchez has a better team but Detroit is pretty stacked too.
I’ll take the winner over the pretty passer anytime.
Love with a LEO is like a drug.. One taste and your addicted!
that's terrible logic haha
hahaha I can’t get enough.

This game is like watching flag football.
The sad thing is that this will be the high point for the Lions this decade. Probably go 6-10 next year. And the year after that. And the years after that…
Watching this game....
…all I could keep thinking was,
IS SCHOTTY GONE YET????
I offered to sell my soul in exchange for an offense than can move the ball or a new OC
But I feel like the devil just sort of laughed…
I love watching the NFL playoffs nd stuff..
But damn I feel empty without my jets in the mix. These past 2 postseasons have been more exciting because of the jets and what we saw from mark and how they turned it up…. Dammit jets! Well, with a few changes and a productive offseason we will be back.
by jets4life24 on Jan 8, 2012 1:40 AM EST via mobile reply actions
hope all the guys that were thrashing on Sanchez appreciate he's a play off performer
great season stats are a plus, but play offs are for real, when we get rid off Schotthead and get a comepetent OC and talented RT everyone will forget about all the picks and fumbles Sanchez had
