Jet's will be back in Cortland next year and team unity will resurface!!
I am from Cortland and both years they were here they went to the AFC Championship game. We need the team chemistry and I think the small town of Cortland gives them that. As long as Schotty, Smith and Hunter are replaced all will be well. Especially Hunter!!! My grandmother could beat Wayne Hunter. Go baxck and get Woody if you have to. I for one am looking forward to the changes and seeing the Jets back in central New York.

forget cortland
rex should bring the team to ireland for a bonding session . 2 weeks away in ireland with a few pints of the black stuff would help with team building . they could also fix some problems without the media breathing down their neck .
if its for you it won't pass you
Forget Cortland?
How do you shrug off the fact that the two years they were here they looked better than the past 30yrs I have been watching them. Besides if they went to Ireland I think they might get confused on which “football” sport they should be training for!! This town has transformed itself into a Jets nation and I for ne love it!!! Now only if we can get rid off Hunter because " Wayne Hunter….you ARE the weakest link!"
[Sigh]
While I do think there is a bit of magic thats needed to win a Chip, I do NOT think that going to Cortland will somehow make this a better team. I also don’t think that “leadership” will somehow make this a better team.
What we need is simple. We need better players. None of the guys that called intrical leaders performed as good or better elsewhere than they did here, and nobody is touting them as some crucial element of their team. We don’t miss a single one of them.
No what builds chemistry and unity and makes everybody happy? WINNING. We made an understandable, but costly mistake in thinking that Hunter would be as good as he was at the end of last season. There was no reason to think that he wouldn’t improve with an off-season of preparation and more snaps. He was a better pass blocker than Woody was last year, and we hoped that that would improve, if not at least stay the same. And we figured that that would be valuable considering that we anticipated Sanchez taking a step and that we’d be throwing the ball a bit more. But Hunter regressing, coupled with Vlad not progressing fast enough, basically screwed us. That plus the worst safety tandem in the history of American football and you have a recipe for a big fat step back for this team.
Find a better RT (particularly a run-blocker) and improve the safety play, and we’re right back to 11 wins. Get a better OC, and we’re talkin division.
Agree
Crackback you make a valid point. It does seem that being in Cortland and making the team bunk together did create some unity. I am just going by what I see in front of me. Moving camp to a smaller town equalled Unity and Playoffs. Short trainig camp in NJ equalled NO PLAYOFFS!! After seeing Babin torch Hunter all day in the Philly game was hard to watch. If they don’t find a better RT then Sanchez will be having a very short career. I don’t know how many time I saw Smith get bulled over this season. In the immortal words of Bart Scott " He couldn’t stop a nose bleed!"
If we were winning football games like we were the first two years things would have been fine. Everyone can play together and be united when everything is going great. The true measure of a team is how they respond to losing. With the lack of leaders and a premedona wide receiver as a captain what could you expect. Captains work when people respect their leaders. Handing them out as a way to challenge players especially at their age inst going to do anything. He should have named the right people captains and i think a lot of these problems would of been dealt with a lot more effectively.
Biased...maybe?
Like I said I am from Cortland so I might be a little biased. I do believe that Hunter and Smith are one of the main reason for the set backs. I don’t think Marshall would have train rolled Leohnard if he was in there. NOW there is a team Cap’t!! Who is on the market this year as far as RT goes? Or do we adress it in the draft?
