Around SBN: Indy 500: 'Greatest Spectacle In Racing' Set For Sunday

Scouting Report : Isaiah Pead , RB , Cincinnati

A guy i really like as a late round prospect is Isaiah Pead . He is not a power back but he runs tougher than he should for his size .

Height: 5-10. Weight: 193.
Projected 40 Time: 4.41.
Arm: 31. Hand: 8 5/8.

All in all the guy had 545 rushs for 3288 yards and 27 TD's giving him a 6 yard average over his 4 year college career .His catching stats are 87 receptions for 721 yards and 6TD's average 8.3 yards a reception .

Star-divide

In 2011 Pead averaged 5.3 yards per carry with 1,259 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns. He also caught 39 passes for 319 yards and three scores. In 2010 he ran for 1,029 yards and six scores while averaging 6.6 yards per carry. He caught 26 passes for 190 yards and one touchdown last year.

This year Pead won Big East Player of the year and was the main part of his teams offense . I think we could use him as a replacement for LT as i see a lot of similar aspects to both their game . He is very agile and is really quick out of his cuts . He has the breakaway speed you look for in a RB . Another quality he has is his ability to be a very good pass blocker . He is really good a picking up the blitz .

His playmaking ablity doesn't end there . He can also be used as a KR and PR guy and i think he could excel under the best ST coach in the NFL .

Pead will be taken in the 4th or 5th round and i think any team that gets his will get themselves a steal . Should we be looking at Pead in this draft ? Well it depends on how Sparano sees our run game going .If he is looking for another ground and pound type of RB then Pead isn't the guy but if he is looking for another playmaker who has good pass blocking skills and got genuine breakaway speed then Pead makes a lot of sense as a potential addition to this team .

idk if we need a running back

i like him as a 4th or 5th round talent depening on how much faith the front office has in bilal powell and joe mcknight staying healthy over the course of a season since he isnt our only recieving running back who has the potential to break out a big play everytime he touches the ball

If Rex and Tanny continue the trend of drafting running backs I don't see why not.

He’s had a very good Senior Bowl, and his performance over his career speaks for itself. He is a powerful runner so that is attractive for an offense that loves its power backs. I like him, Doug Martin (who may have moved into the second round this week), Terrence Ganaway, and Vick Ballerd.

i like Ganaway too

i think both him and Pead would be good value picks for us . Ganaway looks like a great option if we want to add another power back

I Didn

I Didn't Get to See the 2nd Half of the Sr. Bowl

but aside from his STs play, I wasn’t impressed at all with Pead’s play as a RB in the first half. I did see that he got MVP, so he must have played better as a RB in the 2nd half.

I like Pead. I just don't think he's a good fit.

His change of direction is sick, but I think he’s too small to hold up for significant carries. He’s basically a Darren Sproles type. He can be deadly with his quickness, but you don’t really want to bang him between the tackles. And if Greene missed time, ground and pound would be relegated to Pead and McKnight, which isn’t a pleasant thought.

I think Greene should be tandemed with a similar type of back, with McKnight doing the scat stuff.

i tend to agree with that

i see pead as a replacement for LT but if we are looking at bringing in a power back then he wouldn’t fit . Ganaway would be a very good option as a power back and could be our Bush ( raiders )

On an unrelated note

The guy I keep on hoping you’re going to discuss (and perhaps already have) is Vontaze Burfict. I realize that ILB isn’t the Jets’ top need for another year or two, but from his description, there are times it seems like he’s precisely the kind of guy Rex Ryan is supposed to know how to handle; extremely talented, but with various personality issues. That he’s often compared to Lewis, a guy Ryan saw at his best, should make him even more appealing. Is he a legitimate option for the Jets? Where could he play for them?

I've heard a few places they see him dropping (all pre-combine chatter)

If he dropped to the Jets pick in the 2nd, he could be interesting. I could see him getting some time at OLB or in Nickels. The eventually taking Scott’s position sometime down the road. He can rush the passer, so a spell at OLB wouldn’t be crazy. But it seems he is also crazy so…

If the Jets get a OLB in the first and Burfict in the 2nd I will go crazy with excitement

Id probably start screaming and jumping for joy wherever I am. That would be an AWESOME way to start the draft

Anyone else like Bernard Pierce of temple?

You can never have enough running backs when you wanna be a power running offense.
