We're saved by..........
Darrelle Revis! i been waiting a very long time for a respectable member of the d# to start defending their team mates and it has taken forever but now on espn http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/jets/post/_/id/10571/revis-lets-stop-destroying-ourselves they reported that Revis makes a stand. its a great thing for the time since Revis is a respected member of the team- Manglod is respected but he's not on Revis' level. After the jump i'll say my imput on the 2012-13 season.
Positions to draft:
WR OLB SS
In FA we should try to get the FS from the titans first, then
Mario Williams DE/OLB
a running back- Peyton Hillis(cheaply tho) or M. Turner
OT
QB
and resign Jim Lenard, he wasn't the reason why the TE were always wide open i always so a Lb or a certain SS trailling( btw i wouldnt mind keeping that certain SS as a 4th S)
Note the jets dont need to get the 3rd pick but it would be nice and i would prefer if they did that they kept the org. 16th as well. Also if Manning retires the Jets should try to get him as a QB coach that would be nice.

I don't think you deal with reality alot.
This is extremely unrealistic.
The Jets will win the Super Bowl one day and that will be the day i laugh in your face if your not a Jets fan.
i said it doesnt have to happen exactly
this way. we just need to try to do some of these things. I know this stuff cant all happen, im not an idiot.
btw are you saying
that you dont want to improve the teams pass rush at all. i understabd u might not want mario but not even by the draft?
I'm gonna keep saying this like on the Peyton Manning post.
Just randomly spewing out crap about how we want players isn’t gonna work. Cap. Space.
If we didn’t hate the Patriots, ok lets just pretend we like any random team. This is basically saying: Screw it, let’s go get amazing players then pray that we have enough money to be able to play all 16 games.
The Jets will win the Super Bowl one day and that will be the day i laugh in your face if your not a Jets fan.
actually no
im saying we could atempt to get a couple of these guys. ifs impossiple to get all unless we do some next up trades. My options are relastic since we need a RB to back up Greene and we need a pass rusher and Mario is a FA and we have a shot of getting him. this is just some things I want it doesn’t mean that its actually gonna happen.
Even with the trades...
NYJ would be responsible for all of Holmes’ bonus money, including the $7.5 million bonus they’d offer him before FA starts. With all that dead money against NYJ, they wouldn’t be able to afford Williams and Griffin. Probably not either of them.

this isnt Madden where rating attributes come into play, IF the Jets move all the way up to #3 they BETTER take Trent Richardson, there is not a WR in this draft worthy of a top 10 pick, top 15 for that matter

Justin Blackmon???
The Jets will win the Super Bowl one day and that will be the day i laugh in your face if your not a Jets fan.
even Justin Blackmon
we dont have Aaron Rodgers slinging the ball all over the yard, we have Mark Sanchez and he hasnt been a real "gunslinger’ these past 3 seasons, if we take a WR in the 1st round his numbers wont justify the pick, to be honest i cant remeber our last 1,000 yd reciever, we brought in Santonio Holmes fresh off a 1,300 yd campaign in Pitt and got him around 700 yds, we brought in Braylon Edwards after he put up 1,200 yds in Cleveland and he got around 7-800 yds, now we bring in Sporano at OC with his "ground and pound’ philosophy and i just dont see any justification in taking a WR for our style of Offense…clearly our pick would be Trent Richardson IF we were able to move all the way up to 3 and grab him…if we sit at 16, i can see either Vontaze Burfict or Courtney upshaw as our next 1st round pick.

well
i got a couple of problems with this post, the rest i’m ok with:
According to many reports the Vikings are willing to trade the 3rd pick of the draft. i think the jets should trade Holmes and their 16th pick(maybe some less know players also-backups and late round draft picks.) with this pick their either get a WR-blackmen, or a top DE/OLB
ok, the vikings would never do this. they don’t want a troubled wr. they would never do it, they will get much better offers
In FA we should try to get the FS from the titans first, then
Mario Williams DE/OLB
a running back- Peyton Hillis(cheaply tho) or M. Turner
thats nice. we don’t have room for all these guys. there are all different reports as to how much cap room we will have. the most i have heard is that the cap will be 133 mill for us, meaning after we cut smith, hunter and pitoatua, we wll have 17 mill, with this 17 mill, we will need:
4 mill for the draft
a fa saftey
a fa rt
fa wr
maybe a cheap olb, but i’d rather draft one
we have to resign pouha or devito, or both
backup qb
decent punter
rb, wr, saftey, and olb will be focused on in the draft.
now, mario will cost a lot of money, prob 8-10. WE DON’T HAVE THAT MONEY!!! maybe griffin, but he’s the top saftey, so he will get the most money. WE DON’T HAVE A LOT OF MONEY!!! michael turner, it’s not being realistic. i know you want these guys, but we might as well be ading magic ponies and the mets 2012 world series throphy to the mix.
and resign Jim Lenard, he wasn’t the reason why the TE were always wide open i always so a Lb or a certain SS trailling( btw i wouldnt mind keeping that certain SS as a 4th S)
well, leonhard will be cheap, i’m not worried, but he’s lost a step. smith will be cut. we will save 2 mill
Also if Manning retires the Jets should try to get him as a QB coach that would be nice
you know what would also be nice? a cool million dollars falling out of the sky. MILLIONS OF DOLLARS AREN’T FALLING FROM THE SKY!!! WE CAN’T SIGN MARIO WILLIAMS, GRIFFEN, MICHAEL TRURNER AND PEYTON MANNING?AHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

ok, i’m done. welcome to GGN

GREAT post!!!

Lol I agree with pretty much everything except...
I think if we want Mario Williams we could get him…we might have to restructure Sanchez’s contract like he offered last season or we might have to guarantee him money in 2013/2014…I’m told(from articles on this site) we have a lot of free cap space finally.becoming free of Bart Scott, Calvin Pace, and Sanchez’s huge rookie contract(the bulk of which is behind us). All I’m saying is if we think Mario Williams is the one special guy we need to sign in free agency to get to the next level then we have ways of doing it.
We cant (as you said) afford a star at every position..so we are likely going to have to go with average but passable players. I think a good pass rush will go a long way to making our average safties and slow line backers look a lot better in coverage.

Questins in regards to cap room and RT:
If we say sign a RT in FA, will cutting wayne hunter save us any room in cap space? Also do you know if Rob Turner will be back next year as a backup?
well
yeah. it just matters how much we sign him for. we save 3 mill by cutting hunter. rt’s in fa can be had for less then that

Hah! Tone time will come soon!
Don’t know how long rex will be a jet for either if this continues!! lol
true
but he will always be a jet, in some way. unless he coaches a division rival. then we might have a problem

We get who we can
i know very well that we can’t get all of them. we make offers and see if they would accept if they dont then oh well we try to get cheaper options.
Dude
Have you totally ignored the excellent cap articles (by John B I believe) and the links to web sites with the Jets’ cap info???? If the Jets trade Holmes, they take an $8 million dead money hit on the cap. If that happens, they won’t even be able to re-sign Pouha much less sign Mario Williams. The ignorance and wet dreams have got to stop!!!

In what universe is Mangold not on Revis’ level?
I mean, really. They are both #1 at their position in the NFL. I’d even be willing to bet that Mangold has way more friends in the locker room than revis does. I mean, it’s great that another top tier guy spoke up, but I think you undervalue Nick.
Just look at how the Jets did in the games without Mangold
No disrespect to Revis but I think Mangold is even more important than Revis.

I don't want Mario
Mario has yet to really show that he’d transfer over to OLB, just not enough tape on it. The jury is still out Mario went down early in the season to say he will be a Demarcus Ware type of player. IMO I would rather go after Avril and save some money for another FA
Hell Quentin Groves is a better pick up imo, he has played DE and OLB and done pretty darn good job at both. He would be the 3 down OLB and a immediate upgrade over any one on the roster. There are a bunch of OLB/DE FA that would be cheaper and better. Jarvis Moss, Ahmad Brooks, Jeremy Mincey and Jarrett Johnson just a few to mention.

Holmes has very little value right now
He officially had a terrible reputation both on and off the field, is a character risk, is not delivering currently, and he’s balls to the wall expensive (thanks Mike T).

Holmes got traded for a 5th rounder to the jets, he is not going to be traded for a 3rd overall pick.
also, why would we trade up to get a pass rusher ? there are going to be good ones at 16. I think we are sitting pretty.
Posts like this makes me wish GGN can put up a fantasy section
The less I say about this post, the better. I dont want to come off as being mean, lol.
