Why I'm staying Neutral in the Superbowl.
Everyone is talking who the Jets fans should root for in the Superbowl. 99% say root for the Giants. Not me though. What about New England? I'd rather die than root for the Pats. Still though there are some reasons to root for them. Still I will not. I'm going to remain Neutral and just enjoy it as a casual sports observer. I'm no means suggesting you should do the same, it's up to you. I'm just going to lay out why I'm doing what I'm doing.
First off, let's start with why I'm rooting for the Pats. Err.... umm... well I don't have much. The best I can think of is that one it'll motivate Rex and the Jets next year. If they can't get motivated after this, to paraphrase Rex "then we don't deserve to be here." Another reason is Brady. As much as I hate him and his life, I have to say if he played for any other team and was any other player, I'd want him to avenge his biggest loss to the Giants. Seeing as he's still Thomas Brady, it's a moot point. The last point is that they have Shaun Ellis, a class act and Jet I admired, who I want to see win one before he retires. Also, perhaps obvious, I want them to win so the Giants lose.
Why I'll root against them. They're the F'ing Pats. Obnoxious, cheating, and napkin writing, they are our biggest rivals and for that I loathe everything about their organization. I hate everything about them, mostly because everyone I knew in high school became a Pats fan overnight. I'd say more reasons, but I'm trying to keep it PG.
On to the Giants: Why do I want the Giants to win. Simple to keep the Pats from winning. Also, they are a NY team who overcame a lot this year to get where they were. (Speaking of, what is it with Coughlin being on the hotseat and the Giants making the Superbowl.) Beating the Pats again would also be pretty sweet. Also, it is always nice to bet a Boston team in any sport, they have been the most spoiled fanbase in the last decade.
Why do I root against the Giants. Fat cessa for one. Also because they already have had one in 07, and another SB would make their fans even more obnoxious. Second, Brandon Jacobs, who is probably the worst class act in football. I can't stand the guy for how he runs his mouth (remember the magazine article) and backs it up by being the worst short yardage back ever for his size.. Last but not least, the Giants tweet. Yeah, talk about classless from an organization that is supposedly classy. Also this : Giants story on Big Blue. The last line truly irks me. Any sympathy I had for you went out the door with that one.
So there's my reasons. I cannot bring to root for one team over the other. Nor do I hate team more than the other. In fact, I hate them both equally.
There is one deity I will root for and actively pray for. It's the Beer God(s), because I'm going to need a lot of it to survive watching the Superbowl this year. I'm hoping they don't run out for my family's sake.
So, who are you rooting for?

Giants
And covering up their Superbowl shit was stupid. We deserve to eat it if they get another one.
In fairness to the jets, I heard they did that every game, not just the Giant game
But, still a mickey mouse move. The Jets as an organization has a long way to go as far as being respected like the Giants and Steelers are.

what's so ridiculous about it?
It’s our stadium during our home games, why should we leave up anything regarding the giants?
I mean, they change the whole dang color of the stadium on game day
A little curtain seems minor.

and all this BS of the Jets motivating the Giants to go on this run is just about the stupidest thing I have come across all year. You mean professional football players who make millions and are playing for their legacies anyway suddenly wake up at the words of an opposing player or having their stadium converted to what the Jets do every home game? Come on now. It is like saying Rex’s words and all the talking our players did were the reasons we beat the Pats in the playoffs last year, which is nonsense. We beat them because we prepared better and had a better game plan and executed better. If the Giants were so motivated why did they come out in the first 25 minutes of that game with like 30 yards and one first down until the Cruz play?
I got a little worried about the Giants...
…when I heard they were still crowing about beating the Jets two weeks later. Get over it—go beat the Patriots. If they lose the SB, the victory over the Jets doesn’t mean much.

The Giants don’t do it the the Jets stuff???? I find that hard to believe.

The posters of Namath with his finger up in the air
After SB 3 instead of Carson dousing Parcells with Gateraid. Each home game the stadium is changed to look either like a Jets or Giants stadium. Only problem is the Giants had never played a road game in that stadium.
I agree.
just don’t even want to fathom it…
as for the SuperBowl stuff, I see why he did it, but in hindsight it turned out horrible.

I'm going for the Giants
All the pot shots I here from Giants fans are staring me toward neutral, could never root for the Pats. The best part for us with these two teams in it, is one is going to lose, and it really hurts to get this far and lose.
Any lose for the Pats is a happy day for me so I feel the same.
I won’t exactly be dressing in Giants apparel but I will be jumping for joy every time Osi and JPP break themselves off a piece off Brady’s pride.
G-men. Nicks, Cruz, and manningham will run wild.
The giants should embarass the pats, but it won’t happen. 34-27 Gmen
Let's Make sure we play like the f***in NEW YORK JETS
and not some f***in slapd**k team!

Thing that pisses me off about the Giants
is that their fans and the NY press act like they are a great team. Truth is that they are the St. Louis Cardinals of the NFL. A team that may win 2 championships in the span of a few years with mediocre teams. A 10 win team with a 75 QB that beat one 9 win team before the playoffs and a 9 win team that could become the first to win a SB with 9 wins. In between they were an average team that didn’t make the playoffs and had a head coach that was nearly run out of town last year when his team won more games than they did this year. Their fans and the press were all down on the team and their coach until this little run. The run is great, and I would be in heaven if the Jets had 2 years like this-but let’s not mistake it for the skills of a great team.
Still-I can’t pull for the Patriots. I will be mostly neutral with a slight tilt for the G-men.

Good points Buzzy
I’m with you, but i’ll be rooting for the Pats. As much as it kills me, i really would like to see the Giants lose 2 of their last 3 superbowl appearances. I’ll be rooting for Ellis, Ihedigbo, and Woodhead. I may even pull for McCorty as he’s a Rutgers product.
And how many Pats fans have come to GGN to talk crap this week?

I wont be watching the game but Patriots all the way
Enough of this rallying around NY teams bullshit. Your one or the other in this city/state. I hope they do avenge their 07 loss and hurt some Giants players in the process. Boston only receives my hatred during football, I have no qualms cheering for them in Baseball or Hockey (especially since they beat the Flyers in the EC championship game last season).

The worst thing about these two teams being in the SB...
is that one of them has to win.
I agree

Oh c'mon
Root for your fellow AFC East team. It wouldn’t kill ya. You KNOW Rexy wants more of Belicheck’s rings to not kiss.
Rex Ryan: "There’s no way that we’re looking to replace Mark Sanchez"
Patriots Nation: "Thank God"
Giants Fans: "FOUR MORE YEARS!! FOUR MORE YEARS!!"
I'll be rooting for the Pats Chris
And the only reason is… If the Pats win, at least there is the chance that they will have the win tarnished by yet another cheating scandal.

See there you go
It’s possible Jets Nation

Giants Fans: "FOUR MORE YEARS!! FOUR MORE YEARS!!"
For this game...
I am pulling for the Giants. Normally I would root for the Giants except when they play against the Jets. For some reason they just annoyed me this season. While they are a hometown rival they are still one of my hometown teams and I will always root for a New York team over any other in the end. When it comes to sports I mainly follow Football, Basketball, and Baseball…in those sports I will always hope for an all New York Superbowl, all New York World Series and if there were a way I would be rooting for an all New York NBA finals (but of course that one isn’t possible). Yankees are my number 1 in baseball and Jets are my number 1 in football. Not to backtrack too much but for the most part (and this is odd considering my Yankee fandom) I like to see parity in professional sports and if I were to go under my normal preference I would root for the Pats considering how many championships each franchise has but that is never going to happen.
REX WASN'T HERE TO KISS BILL BELLICHICKS RINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Jets will win the Super Bowl one day and that will be the day i laugh in your face if your not a Jets fan.
I would sooner cut off a finger than root for those damn patriots
At least the Giants keep it a new york thing.
