Eric Smith Has Been Playing With Torn Mensiscus
According to Jenny Vrentas, S Eric Smith has been playing injured:
Eric Smith has been playing past 5 weeks with a torn meniscus in knee. Happened in practice before Redskins gm. Will have scope Weds.

Rex Ryan alluded to this about a week ago, saying that Smith was not 100%. Smith was a terrible safety before this incident, and I think it only speaks to a bad job by the FO that they only brought in help (see Gerald Alexander) after Jim Leonhard was knocked out for the season. Think of it this way. We had four safeties on the roster by the end of the season. One was injured (Eric Smith), one was benched in the beginning of the year (Brodney Pool), one was a rookie (Tracy Wilson), and one was signed with a week or two to go and never actually saw the field (Gerald Alexander). That's bad work by the FO.

I don't know who's responsible
I’m tempted to say Woody Johnson just because it was such an uncharacteristic year for Tanny. Maybe it was Rex? I mean, not jumping on the chance to grab Jared flippin’ Gaither? He played great for KC down the stretch. The Dwight Lowery trade was just utterly confusing. I dunno. Rex has a strange overconfidence in marginally talented players. :/

I suspect Rex has VERY little say in the FO. It sounds like the FO wanted strict continuity since we’ve done so well the past two years and they didn’t want to add or remove a ton of pieces.

By trying to help give Eric Smith an excuse for being absolutely terrible this season
All he has done is brought to light another fuck up by the front office. We had depth issues since last year, ONE OF THE WORST STARTERS ON THE ROSTER GOT HURT AND YOU SIGNED NOOOOOOOONE ELSE?
But you can raise ticket prices? God almighty…

Raising ticket prices and having a bad roster signing are TWO different and unrelated things.
And the home of the .... JETS!!!
Now lets get a G-D snack!!!
"You might not like that. You might be very cynical about that. Well, f**k it, I don't care what you think."-Roy McDonald
For the amount Season Ticket holders pay we should be able to run the freaking team
Not saying that’s a good thing
And That Is a JET FIRST DOWN!!!

Well it's a move by the new york jets organization that I don't like
Charging ridiculous amounts of money for a mediocre product. Falls right behind losing.

Supply and demand dictate prices
If Jets fans keep buying tix at prices charged regardless of on-field performance, Woody will charge the the prices that demand generates.

I hope Smith gets better, really I do.
But for christ’s sake. This FO has failed us this year.

i’ll give him credit for being tough, because that really hurts. i tore mine playing hockey and it’s hard enough to walk.
that being said, tough or not, he’s still a mediocre backup at best and should not have been playing even if he were healthy
GET RIPPED
"We'll Win Tonight" - The Captain
"Let's go eat a &€% %¥#$ snack" - Rex
how can you let this man play?
he sucked even before he was injured. you have to question the staff for allowing it. sometimes its okay to admit defeat, Rex and Co. needs to realize that.
if we don’t go after Griffin from the Titans hard, then were in some serious trouble at the S spot.
A lot of changes are going to be made this offseason. a totally different team will be on the field next year.
I like Barron a lot maybe the Jets will get him with one of their picks

I could give rats ass. I don't buy it anyway.
He looked just as slow when he was healthy.
Somebody tear off a piece of toilet paper and wipe that piece of shit off my team.

As someone who has a torn lateral mensiscus, he has my sympathy...
…but he still needs to be gone yesterday. He is of zero value.
Let's go have a beer, Doc.
Proud inventor of the "Oh Brett" meme.
Smith's value decreased..
..when they outlawed helmet-to-helmet hits. Other than serving as an intimidation factor over the middle (ask Boldin and Welker) and run support, he is very limited.
Kudos on the toughness, but I agree, nothing more than Special Teams.
how was that bad work by the FO
in the beginning of the season the jets were loaded at saftey. injuries happened and its part the game there was nothing much they could have done
