A Few Moves that can and will bolster the NY Jets next season

Ok so here goes there are many ways to fix this team but I will simply name a few particulars. Two positions of concentration this offseason should be 1. Safety let's face it, the Jets aren't getting any younger and we definitely need a difference maker especially on defense select Mark Barron from Alabama with the 16th pick, the best Safety in the draft and in my opinion the best option outside of running back Trent Richardson, who unless the Jets are certain will select a Pro Bowl caliber safety in free agency should select Barron. For as good as Leonard has been Barron has the potential to be a lock down type player like Revis, now that's a pretty damn good defense! Next our offense line need help most obviously so in the end grab a hold of a guy in the next round, who ever he is he's a lot better than what we have. Next we need a to cut Bart Scott and sign or trade for a Linebacker, please shed light on some possibilities via free agency or otherwise. Let's get a new punter to boot please! Oh and last but certainly not least............sign Peyton Hillis! Yes folks Peyton Hillis he says he deserves 5 million per and I agree with him! A combination of Hillis and Green will give us a formible a back duo as the game has to offer.

Now my hope is we draft

at 16: Mark Barron

sign Peyton Hillis

cut Bart Scott

sign a new linebacker or trade

and grab a new punter!

sign Peyton Hillis

sign a back up quarterback that could step in for Mark Shanchez

Now for all intensive purposes unless the Jets acquire Peyton Manning I say we give Sanchez a shot under new the offensive coordinator. Would love to hear your feedback. Let's go Jets!

BOOO!!!!

I totally disagree with all your flawed logic.

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been 200 years." Alexander Tyler

If we take Barron first we can afford to trade down quite a bit and pick up some extra picks..

Barron should be there the first pick of the second round so if for some reason the colts wanted our pick we could trade them the 16th over all pick for the 33nd, 65th and 97th (First pick of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounds…Value wise we could could take their 5th round pick to get to the exact value of our pick but I figured that 3 picks in the top 100 for our 1 pick was stretching it already). If we could pick up something like that and take Barron with our number 1 second round pick we could stock up on depth with 5 other picks in the top four rounds….

and i would

def draft Whitney Mercilus or Courtney Upshaw in the 1st round we need pass rushers look at the giants

by NYCnetsfan12 on Jan 17, 2012 7:30 PM EST reply actions

We need pass rushers

Getting consistent pressure on opposing quarterbacks does so much for the defense. It forces their offense into mistakes, causes sacks, and forces opposing coordinators to alter the play calls, and generally gives you control of the game. With our secondary we’d be outstanding if we had a legit pass rush.

First of second order of business needs to be upgrade in O line, before they get Sanchez or other QB killed. Nobody can function properly behind that line, especially when receivers not getting open. Oh, and btw, it’s intents and purposes, not intensive purposes.

The only thing the Jets need to do is resign the players they let go

Need a cover safety?
Dwight Lowery is a safety that knows your system, had 2 touchdowns returned last season and 6 fumbles forced his rookie season. I think that’s the definition of a playmaker. Just don’t let him play CB.

Need a receiver to replace Burress?
Re sign Braylon Edwards. Remember him? He’s the guy that got you 900 yards receiving on 50 catches last year. And he blocked well.

Need a tackle to replace Wayne Hunter?
Kareem McKenzie was drafted by the Jets in the Herm Edwards era. He’s on the Giants. He wouldn’t even have to change houses, just switch playbooks and jerseys. Oh yeah, he’s older now and you can probably get him cheap on a 1 or 2 year deal.

Need some outside linebacker depth? Re sign John Abraham. YEAH. You guys forgot about the fastest sack master out of the gate. He was traded to Atlanta and got a 6 year 42 million dollar deal. Guess what? That was 6 years ago. He’s a free agent. He can easily get you 10 sacks without breaking a sweat. If he’s willing to leave the perenial 1st round exiting Falcons and join his old Jets to retire with he can sign a cheaper incentive laden deal and be used only situationally like Aaron Maybin. Still draft a pass rusher, but this guy will do some damage.

There you have it. There is no need to scout players, or worry about any of that crap. Just resign the players the Jets were dumb enough to cut loose, and draft some young guys, and you have enough depth and talent to go around every weak spot!

Ok, no.

Peyton Hillis signing= Stop playing Madden 12 and get with reality.
Cutting Bart Scott= Um……. Why? Great leader? Not a bad player.
Sign a new Line Backer= You don’t even know who. ( Draft Courtney Upshaw instead of Barron ).
Sign a new punter= You think that with all these positions that need to be fixed and are actually important that we would get punter?
Peyton Hillis signing number 2= Just because he isn’t worth one contract doesn’t mean he’s worth two.

The Jets will win the Super Bowl one day and that will be the day i laugh in your face if your not a Jets fan.

well

if we get comp picks, we will have like 3 6th rounders. i don’t know if there are any great punters available, but if there are, we should draft him or pick him up if he doesn’t get drafted. it realy shouldn’t be that hard to get a good punter, and connoly did not play well at all. agree with basicaly everythin else.

This couldnt be more any more perfect

Peyton Hillis = yuck

Should you choose to test my resolve in this matter, you will be facing a finality beyond your comprehension, and you will not be counting days, or months, or years, but milleniums in a place with no doors.

Why pay Hillis all that money when you can just draft Chris Polk?

- Attempting to debate with a person who has abandoned reason is like giving medicine to the dead.
- Defeat isn't bitter if you don't swallow it.

I don't know how much you guys go to other SBnation NFL sites.

But on Buffalo Rumblings ( Bills ) they talk about Courtney Upshaw as much as we do and they get an earlier pick.
