Namath Dislikes OC Hire
Quite frankly, I agree with him. My opinion will drastically change if we get Todd Haley, who is more suited for the job.

Namath needs to get a life
He’s like the old racist uncle at Thanksgiving dinner, most of the time he’s fine but then every so often he yells out something offensive. I respect what he did for the Jets, but right now he just takes shots for relevance in the world again.
And the home of the .... JETS!!!
Now lets get a G-D snack!!!

Awesome example re uncle
And to take it one step further… Sparano offends everything that Namath every acheived. In the year that Brees broke Marino’s ‘84 (?) 5,000 yard record (and Stafford and Brady broke 5k as well), we must remember that Namath was the 1st 4k passer. A bunch of people today look at Namath’s stats and wonder in this new era, what did he do? Well, he was the 1st 4k passer. He was a thrower when they didn’t throw. QB rating? TD to INT ratio? Forget that. It didn’t apply because no one was chucking it yet. There was nothing to compare it to.
Sparano and Rex are looking to a time that predates Namath. They want run and D. So no surprise that offends Namath.
PS. I do like Namath

The game is different and the staff is different.
While Namath is a respected figure, he’s not at the facility, so I take most of what he says with a grain of salt. That isn’t to say his opinion isn’t valid; he spent time as a quarterback and won a Super Bowl. That said, I take his opinion same as I do with every sportscaster – I listen to it, then I move on and wait to see what actually happens in the real world, not in sportscaster/sports veteran fantasyland.
I was gonna write a FP article about this but your fanshot did it fine in a couple of sentences
I do agree with him on that specific matter, but frankly Namath’s opinion has grown quite stale.
Namath also blamed the players for the bad performance this year and gave Schottenheimer a pass. I couldn’t disagree with him more there.
