Adam Morrison got his team multiple championships barely trying, if that's not a great player...I don't know who is.

Jim's a funny dude.
Why didn’t you come to practice or play in any games this year?
That just went over Damien’s head.

I'll say this about Schotty
The Wall Street Journal wonders whether Brian Schottenheimer can become a good head coach after the way he left.
I have nothing against the guy. I hope he does go on to become a great HC or a great OC somewhere down the road. He is just the wrong guy, right now, for the Jets.
IMO, Schotty needs failure. Failure can be a powerful tool for learning. Schotty is a young guy. He has plenty of time to correct his weaknesses if he is willing to look in a mirror and accept responsibility. But if he keeps telling himself that he is an “excellent” football coach and keeps lying to himself about what it means to be successful then I don’t have high hopes for him.
If Schotty can be more flexible and reactive then he may become a good coach. For example, why did he force Brett Farve to adjust to him instead of vice versa.
John Fox probably deserves to be coach of the year because of his willingness to tweak his offense to fit the strengths of Tebow. Are we to believe that Schotty couldn’t tweak his offense enough to make Farve more successful?
I totally agree with 99% of what you said, great post.
Just commenting on John Fox being coach of the year though… I’ve heard this many times now, and just NO! He is not the coach of the year. I’m not giving him credit for succumbing to public pressure to give Tebow the job and then making the obvious changes necessary to accomodate for it when although everyone acts like he’s the only one that would have done it when ANY coach would have done it because it was THAT obvious, and then beating bad teams and finally going 8-8 backing into the playoffs. The only choice for coach of the year is Jim Harbaugh. There should be no discussion about this.

John Fox
Two things. First, Denver’s defense has played great and Fox deserves credit for that.
Second, no matter how “obvious” the changes that Fox made to the offense are now, now that they have worked out, a lot of coaches wouldn’t have made them. Tebow isn’t Fox’s guy. Sure he had to play him. But he didn’t have to redesign his entire offense, in mid-season, around a guy who had recently been a 3rd stringer. A lot of coaches would have have stuck Tebow into the existing offense, watched him fail, and then complained to Elway about the lack of a pure QB.
Can you give the award to Jim Harbaugh? Sure, he’s done a great job, in a more traditional sense. Frankly, you could give it to Belichick for getting a team with a dismal defense to keep winning. But, IMO, Fox deserves it because I don’t think most coaches could pull off the mid-season offensive redesign.
