Season Over: My recommendations for next season.

Our season is officially over. It is time to go into off dropping and shopping mode in the off season. So i have many ideas that would allow us to get over the inconsistency that have plagued us this season. First, let me give you my observation of what happened this season.

A disappointing 2011 season happened due to Rex Ryan putting too much faith and loyalty in his coaches. He also gets the blame for the talent level on the field in critical spots of safety and the OL. The reason I blame Rex is because I feel that he had faith in his players and he took chances with a 2012 roster knowing that the team was coming into a season with history of bad play calling, a QB with poor accuracy, depth issues on the offensive line, and no solid starting safety.

I do not blame the GM. Mike T is there to keep Rex in check on the salary cap and also handle the contracts. Mike T takes the advice of the coaches to sign FA's and authorize draft picks. So Mike T gets a pass this season because so far all of his high draft picks except Sanchez and Gholston have been great with Ducasse status still up for debate.

Look at our 2012 record: 2 wins, 3 losses, 3 wins, 2 losses, 3 wins, 3 losses. Final result: 8 -8. I watched all games this year and the only two games we was truly outplayed was Oakland and Philadelphia. Those teams beat us by incredible speed of their players. The other games we was simply out coached. If these chances wasn't taken by Rex. We could've easily been sitting at 14-2. The reason we lost the other 6 games is because team either beat us by presenting good scheme geared toward Hunter or offenses taking advantage of our safety problem by running and thowing towards them. Therefore, avoiding our corners.

I feel with minor coaching and roster changes, we could bring home at least 2 Super Bowls in the next 5 years if we make these minor changes. We have all our core players wrapped up for at least 4 years.

QB: Next season would be the perfect season to pick a QB. Sanchez has two years remaining on his contract. The Colts is a lock to draft A. Luck. The next team that really need a QB is the Washington Redskins at pick 7. We should be picking I say either between 12 - 17. First option is that that we can do a trade with the Bucs since they going to be picking at 4 or 5. We should give the Bucs our 1st and 4th, and 6th round picks this year plus the 2nd round pick in 2013. I would suggest we pick up R. Griffin III with the pick we obtain from the Bucs. Defenses would respect Griffin with his ability to run and he has better accuracy than Sanchez. This scenario will also put Sanchez on the hot seat to perform better. We can then ship him off in 2013 to another team to recoup some of the picks we spent to get Griffin. It would also alleviate the pressure from Griffin coming into NY and expecting to great things from the start.

Safety: We can then leverage our 2012 2nd and 3rd round pick and the 2013 1st round pick to move back into the first round anywhere from 20-32 to snatch a to safety off the board since there are a lot of good ones. We might be able to obtain Mark Barron or Robert Lester from Alabama. A solid safety will make an immediate impact. We can then keep Pool and let Leonard and Smith go.

OL: We should be able to find a quality OL in the 5th and 7th rounds. We might be find one in FA. Move Hunter to backup where he belongs. Rob Turner should be returning. Keep Ducasse as backup for run support and JUMBO TE.

RB and WR: Running backs and receivers should remain the same. Greene had a great season without a great offensive line. Bring back LT and Plax back for another year. Keep S. Holmes at number 1. Move J. Kerley to the number 2 receiver and Plax, J. McKinght and Turner revolving at slot position.

DEFENSE: Our pass rush should improve with Westermann and Maybin next year with training more. We also should bring Bryan Thomas back. Keep S. Pouha to allow K. Ellis one more year to adjust. Get rid of Bart Scott. Either sign someone in free agency or can move A. Maybin to D. Harris spot and D. Harris to B. Scott spot. Moving A. Maybin to Harris spot will allow him to set the edges from big runs and allow our big linemen to force more fumbles. He also faster to drop back in coverage. Our corners are set with Revis, Cromartie, and Wilson. Resign Dwight Lowery as the 4th corner and backup safety.

COACHING: Finally, fire Cavanaugh and demote Schotty to QB coach. Promote Callahan to OC since he is a great OC and has some Super Bowl experience. If Schotty do not take the demotion. Fire him too because terrible game plans and the horrible development of Sanchez cannot coexist. We would not be able to afford another wasted pick on a promising QB because of bad coaching. Rex needs to get back to blitzing all out aggressive. Blitzing keeps teams off balance. Better safety support should allow more blizting. Stop playing conservative on defense.
