Thoughts The Day After...

Wow, what a forgettable game that we witnessed yesterday. I took it especially hard, due to the surroundings in which I watched the game. I live in Las Vegas, we have lots of Raiders fans here, and the game was not being aired on local channels so I had to go to a local casino sports book. Every good play for the Raiders or bad play by the Jets I heard mocking comments and people yelling "Raiders". I was actually considering going to Oakland to watch the game in person, but I did not want to expose myself to the possibility of getting shanked so I decided to stay in town and watch it.

Besides the embarrassing experience that it was to watch that game in public, there are some thoughts that I have about this team, that game, and the games still on the schedule after the jump.

Here are a few thoughts that come to mind...

1. That was hands down the worst refed game I think I have ever watched. Some of those calls left me scratching my head. The worst part is that a lot of them came on 3rd down, I saw a stat on Twitter that the Raiders are the first team in like 15 years to win without converting a single 3rd down in at least 8 attempts!

2. The D really stunk it up. We missed tackles got zero pressure and just bent over to their offense. I think that the stadium noise and emotion of the fans really played a role in that. The best thing we could have done is to get a TD after that punt return to widen the gap and calm the crowed down, that would have forced them to throw the ball a bit more.

3. This might be a blessing in disguise, we all know that this team was never going to go undefeated. We have a tough strech of road games including the one they just played. I was hoping to see them go 2-1 over these 3 road games. One thing that I have noticed about Rex is he has the mentality of "if it ain't broke don't fix it" and sometimes we play bad but end up winning and they celebrate rather then show concern to fix what went wrong. Next week were playing the Ravens, I hope that this embarrassing loss for the Defense will motivate them to play lights out on Sunday night.

Losses always hurt to watch but this one really stung because of the uncharacteristic way that our defense played. The only good to come out of yesterday was watching Brady throw 4 ints. Just think if the Jets bounce back with two strait wins they'll be 4-1 with a one game lead over New England.
