Jeremy Kerley should be competing for the Slot Receiver position

Yea I know, we just got Derrick Mason and I should be excited.  However the news comes as kind of a disappointment to me because I was really hoping to see Kerley compete for the Jets #3 spot.  I hope that the Jets have discussed the role that the two veterans (Burress and Mason) will play.  If the Jets haven't then the offense could be facing doomsday.

The reason why I say that is because one of the biggest factors in our offense wasn't utilized when Holmes was implemented into the offense; Dustin Keller.  He is a pass catching weapon that we weren't using in games and it was frustrating to see our offense slowing down because we felt like we needed to share the ball.  There simply isn't enough time or plays to pass the ball to 4 different WR's (Holmes, Burress, Mason, and Kerley) and run the ball with two different RB's (Greene, and L.T. or Powell which I maybe prefer) and still get the ball into our 2nd best offensive playmakers hands (Keller).  If DK is thrown to enough then I think our offense will be better then throwing to two veterans who are past their prime. Keller can be a game changer. 3 of the 1st 4 games of last season are evidence of how good our offense can be.

Anyway back to Kerley; my belief is that he'll be less likely to demand more pass attempts and from all reporters it has seemed like Kerley has been playing spectacular and I think he could be special.  I would love to see him get some regular season reps at the minimum.  Besides, the slot position is supposed to be fast and have game changing ability and I believe that Kerley could have that kind of effect. IMO he should be able to start and based off of talent, skill set, and for the benefit of our offense I think that he should be playing the slot.

p.s. Oh and if Keller is being used like he was within the 1st 4 games, then I think our offense will be WAY better then last season (due to Keller getting the ball, a should-be improved Sanchez, a should-be improvement from Greene and a red zone mastermind in our offensive consultant in Tom Moore should result in a better offense then last year.)

How many years does Keller have left on his contract? Anybody know?
