Cimini notes that Sione Pouha should be good to go a week from Sunday against the Cowboys.
Pouha, who said he has a "very minor" MCL sprain, said "everything is ready to roll." He spoke to a group of reporters at the Jets' annual kickoff luncheon in Lower Manhattan.
Dallas tends to be a throw first team, but the Cowboys do have a talented stable of backs. I think Martin Tevaseu and Kenrick Ellis are capable of playing well. I just do not want to have to find out for sure.
It seems possible based on these comments that Sione be playing if he absolutely had to. There is just no point to risk it in preseason. The Jets know what they have, a fantastic nose tackle. With Pouha and Mike Devito on the line, there is no reason the defense cannot replicate its excellent numbers from a year ago against the run.
