Logan Payne's dislocated wrist will require surgery according to NJ.com.
"I don't know how long he'll be out," Ryan said. "That's one of those things where once we have the surgery, we'll find out more about it when we go in."
If he needs to miss any extended period of time, I would expect the Jets to consider placing him on IR. He is not good enough to justify holding a roster spot to wait for. Still, he has shown some good signs in preseason, and this would let the Jets keep him under team control in the short term at least.
This is a tough blow for Payne. He was having a really good preseason on special teams, which is the path to the roster for bottom of the depth chart guys. If he was not going to make the team, he at least would have made it a difficult decision for the front office and coaching staff.
