New York Jets Sign DaJuan Morgan
The Jets signed a safety today, DaJuan Morgan.
Morgan was a third-round pick by Kansas City in 2008. He was with the Colts last season.
The tendency might be to view him as a replacement for James Ihedigbo, but he has not really accomplished enough to just waltz into a roster spot. He is likely camp fodder who might stick on special teams.
Morgan fails one of my key tests. Despite being a third round pick, the Chiefs gave up on him after two seasons. Teams do not give up on high picks unless all hope is lost because they are such big investments. For Kansas City to cut ties so soon is striking. He did not see much action in 2010 as a member of the Indianapolis Colts.
He is mainly a run stopper. In two career starts, it is worth noting that he registered 14 tackles. His path to the roster goes through Mike Westhoff, though.

If he's cheap, I don't care.
Its one more guy fighting for a roster spot that may have an answer. If he’s useless there is the door, here’s your pink slip.
And the home of the .... JETS!!!
Now lets get a G-D snack!!!

Yeah, looks like a DB for special teams
He had some injuries for the Chiefs. Then his tenure with the Colts was a short pump and dump before the Colts played the Chiefs.
So Let It Be Written, So Let it Be Done.
Just some quick notes I found on Morgan, I did recognize his name...
was the #2 ranked S coming out of the 2008 draft (behind Kenny Phillips) from NC State, although it was a very weak S class. Before the draft was expected to go late first early second, but dropped to the 3rd. NFL comparison before the draft was Sean Jones, and was well rounded in all areas of his game. Has had a number of injuries both in college and HS (car accident). Listed at 6’0" 200lbs, and a 4.5 40.
