The lockout is finally in the end stages and we are possibly days away from FA starting and the free agent apocolypse beginning. Antonio Cromartie has come out and said that he is going to test the market. Someone (ARI,HOU,PHI,SF,OAK, and HOU again) will spend mega money on Cromartie and I have a feeling will be getting paid in the 10-11 million dollar range. To me, that is ludicrous and is not anywhere near that kind of money. There are many different options that we can take to fill that need of a #2 CB:
1) Re-sign Cro (most likely 10-11 mil)
3) Or the least popular option, and that is place 2nd year 1st round pick Kyle Wilson in the position opposite Revis
Wilson was drafted for this purpose, he was drafted to play opposite Revis. I think that he is (or will be) fully capable of taking on the responsibility. Revis wasn't hot right from the get-go either. When the Cleveland Browns selected Joe Haden their was serious debate within the Browns FO and coaching staff about whether they should select Joe Haden or Kyle Wilson.. Anyone want to guess who the person was rallying to select Kyle Wilson? None other than defensive genius Rob Ryan. Sure even the best minds in the game can be wrong, but when two of the best defensive minds in the game agree, it gives me a little more confidence. I am not going to say that Wilson will be able to manage playing opposite Revis yet...But why not give him a shot?
If Wilson hasn't shown anything from practices and Coleman or Lowery out play him, but I would like to see Wilson playing CB2 during the pre season... Oh and he did practice with Revis for a few weeks..The effort is their; we'll see if Revis rubbed off on him at all.
