Lawrence Wilson is another one of the undersized LBs that the Jets worked out. He stands 6'1" and weighs 229 lbs. He played Weakside LB at UConn and projects as an ILB in the NFL. Wilson ran a 4.7 40 at the combine but at his pro day he apparently improved his time, with some speculating that he ran a 4.55 40. He also had 24 reps at 225 lbs on the bench.
More after the jump.
Their isn't a ton of tape on him, but the one I'm including is against Louisville (you can also see RB Bilal Powell of Louisville who the Jets also had in for a visit) where Wilson racked up 16 tackles. You can see pretty good lateral movement, coverage skills but most importantly tackling and instincts. You can also see him get hung up on a couple of blocks and get flagged for pass interference.
From the National Football Post...
Wilson led the Big East last season with 123 tackles, also recording 3 1/2 sacks with 10 1/2 tackles for losses. For his career, he recorded 449 tackles and five interceptions as he returned three for touchdowns.
Over the past two seasons, Wilson has 272 tackles, 21 for losses, 8 1/2 sacks and six forced fumbles.
Perhaps undersized but good production. Very interesting though that he is another undersized LB with coverage skills that the Jets have worked out.
