Why Settle?

The jets for several years having been just lacking one thing and that is a ligit pass rush. Jets thought they solved it in 2008 with gholston, and in 2010 when they signed Jason Taylor and said he would have double digit sacks. For 2 years this team as been a win now but are they still a win now team while settling this year in the draft for what they can get in the bottom of the 1st or 2nd round? If you go get Phil Taylor out of Baylor will that be the difference to get the Jets to the Super Bowl? I don't think so this team has been doing pretty good hiding the fact of no NT, but with a NT  prospect does that even bring us deep into the playoffs. The last two years this Defence has been a group of overachievers not being able to be a top ranked Defense with maybe no other person than Rex Ryan coaching this D.

When Rex got here we had the 16th overall ranked defense at the end of 08-09 season, Rex stood up at his 1st press conference and said we would have a top Defense group for years to come I laughed and didnt think it was possible, but then a 1st and a 3rd overall ranked Defense. This team can not continue without a double digit sack guy and expect to go to another AFC Championship game. This team needs a pass rusher no matter how they get it.

I Know a lot of people wont want to hear this but I think it makes most sense to trade up and get the pass rusher we need and all wish we had. I'm going to say that not getting a guy who can be an elite pass rusher now will cause the demise of this Jets team because we will not get anywhere when our defense focuses more on QB confusion with coverages more than getting to the QB because we can't.

The two prospects that make the most sense is Aldon Smith who just a beast only 20 years old, just a sophmore, Rex was at his pro day and maybe able to make him one of the best playmakers at the position.

The other Ryan Kerriagan he plays like T Suggs, and I think he will translates well to a 3-4OLB and can be a big pass rushing threat in our system.

And of coarse the pipe dream, UNC's Robert Quinn. With some mocks have him falling to the Vikings which I dont will happen because either he will be a top 10 or the Vikings will pass up on him because they have more needs then DE so if he start's to fall and like to see Quinn come to the jets tho I like Aldon Smith even more because he has higher potential in my opinion.
