GGN Mock Draft, Round 2, Pick 12, Minnesota Vikings: Corey Liuget, DT, Illinois

Even though every fiber of my being says the Vikings need a new Cornerback or just a playmaker in their secondary, this round would probably be best used on a defensive lineman, being that Ray Edwards is probably on his way out looking for a big payday.

Allow me to introduce Corey Liuget, DT, Illinois.  Drawing comparisons to Falcons DT Jonathan Babineaux, he has the potential to be an above average defensive lineman.

It is odd that he has dropped so far in the draft considering that he has received many first-round votes of approval.

It is true, the Williams Wall has been one of the most consistent pair of DTs in recent years, but they are aging, and there's no reason that Liguet can't become a viable replacement in the long term.

Liuget is probably the best option available given the players taken by this time, so I say go with the best player as opposed to need.  There is plenty more DB and DE depth left in this draft.

But what do you think? Is this a good choice based on who is still available or should the Vikings draft by need?

Respond in the poll or in the chat.
