With the 19th pick of the 2011 draft , the New York Giants select, Anthony Castonzo Offensive Tackle 6'7 311,out of Boston College. I apologize that this is a consenus pick, but I believe it is the best pick for the New York Giants. Castonzo is a polished versitile lineman with a nasty streak. In my opiniion, he can play both right and left tackle and can be kicked inside to offensive guard. The Giants Offensive Line is excellent but aging, Kareem Mckensie RT is 31, Shaun O Hara Center is 33, Rich Seubert LG is 32 and David Diehl LT is 30. The Giants are looking for Castonzo to play LT and kick Diehl inside to guard. There is also a strong possibility that Castonzo can replace McKensie at RT.
The Giants certainly could have gone with Martez Wilson OLB/ILB or Akeem Ayers at linebacker. The Giants have a great need for a playmaker at LB, but the third year Clint Sintim( 2nd round pick ) has showed progress at SLB ( although there have benn durabilty issues) and Jeff Goff (5th round pick) a fourth year player was adequate in the middle. The need for talent was there, but I feel Ayers and Wilson are a bit of a reach.
Passed on Ingram at runningback. Good player, but doesn't have that top gear. The Giants run the ball, runningback is important, Bradshaw is a Free Agent, Jacobs seems to be fading. I'm counting on Danny Ware 6'0 234 and I think I can get an RB in the second round ( where have you heard that before). Would also recommend De Angelo Williams RB as a free Agent Aquistion.
