Call me crazy but I believe that Ryan Mallett can be the guy that the Vikings are looking for.
The Vikings currently have a new head coach, a brand new staff, the Lions licking their paws to make a division run, and a lot of needs - but none more important than quarterback.
After Brett Favre unretired (again) and regressed (again), the roof in Minnesota starting falling down - in more ways than one.
The widely popular and successful trend has been bringing in a 1st-round rookie quarterback with a rookie head coach (Atlanta, Baltimore, New York, Tampa Bay, and Detroit especially), so the Vikings will probably try to continue the trend.
They have enough weapons - the League's Best Running Back, a pair of Go-To Guys at WR, and a pretty good all-around defense - so the main thing the Vikings need right now is to get that Franchise QB.
Mallett has the arm strength and accuracy - yes he ran a slow 40-time and there have been issues with his maturity, but there's way too much stability in the Minnesota office for him to go crazy and bust like Russell or Leaf.
Will the Vikings really pick Mallett? Probably not. But I think it's a good enough pick.
