The always excellent Jets Twit blog notes that Jets offensive lineman Vladimir Ducasse has created a Twitter account.

King Ugly has entered the Twittersphere. No he doesn’t go by @kingugly BUT Vladimir Ducasse, Offensive lineman for the New York Jets, goes by @vducasse1987 on Twitter.

Twitter is one of the greatest things for NFL fans ever. When before could you ever speak directly with your favorite players? You used to depend on reporters and reporters alone for access. The more players who get on it, the better. The walls of the old media are coming down in many ways. This is another example of how following the NFL and sports in general is becoming more democratic.
