GGN Mock Pick 5, Arizona Cardinals, Von Miller, OLB, Texas A&M
Let me just get this out there, I'm going with what most experts think will be their pick, and I can see why.
Arizona has both several needs and play-makers at certain positions.
Fitzgerald, And Breaston At WR
Hightower And Wells At RB
Kerry Rhodes, Adrian Wilson, And Rodgers-Cromartie At DBs
And Just like any team they have their needs. They Desperately need a QB, they have no notable LBs and Joey Porter isn't getting any younger. So why not go with the surpluses of talent at QB this year? Because they NEED better defense. Their Rankings for Defense Are;
Overall Defense In Yards Per Game: 29th out of 32 with 373.6YPG
Sacks: Tied for 18th with 33 Sacks
Then you can go On with how bad their Defense Was in points per game etc. I don't think you can pass on an outstanding Pass Rusher Like Miller. He Reminds NFL's Mike Mayock As A "DeMarcus Ware" Type pass rusher, and is listed as his number 2 player in the draft. Smaller, but a great talent and has amazing athletic ability in both pass rushing and coverage. Anyone could use a great pass rusher as Defense wins championships.

And hey, lets say he's a bust and doesn't work out as your offense is still anemic after trying year two with your guys, you can still get "Lucky" in the next Draft!

Nice Pick but....
i think a more pressing need in Arizona is finding Kurt Warners replacement , Derek Andersen hasnt been the same QB he was in 2007 and doesnt look like hes gonna improve anytime soon, personally i would take Gabbert here but Miller will improve thier Pass Rush immediatly.
I know where your coming from
But at the same time, if the as the draft goes on and the QBs aren’t taken in the top ten, I don’t see many teams, maybe one, drafting a QB, so many of the best talents at QB should fall pretty far. As well, they could pursue one of the QBs on the market like a McNabb or a Kolb, or wait until next year possible for Luck or another QB.

totally agree
with that assesment as well, there will probably be a few solid Vets coming out in FA and also they pick early enough in the 2nd round to pick up a decent QB, i really like Miller as a pass rusher and the more i think about this pick, the more i like it.
Agreed
You got Mcnabb, Kolb, Vince Young(maybe), Kyle Orton(Possibly if its Tebow Time), Tarvis Jackson is backing up Eli he could be a transition guy, The Packers 2nd Stringer, That Bears 3rd stringer, Any of the backups to Big Ben, Brad Smith if your drunk enough, once FA opens up you can find a guy.
And the home of the .... JETS!!!

i would've picked the same...
If I had Carolina’s pick I actually would’ve picked Miller…He seems like a Ron Rivera kind of guy and I think that he thinks he can make him elite (Rivera being a former LB and LB coach). Not a solid enough QB option in Gabbert or Newton (no Bradford’s or Ryan’s) Both are projects and I think would benefit from riding the pine for a year or two and you can’t have that with the number 1 overall pick
Tough Pick Here
Arizona has enough needs that I could see them going in many directions.
So Let It Be Written, So Let it Be Done.
Like the pick, but I’m no quite as sold on Miller as most. I think he;s a little more boom or bust than most guys.

My name's Darrelle; spelled like Darrell, pronounced Darrelle
I agree. I think he’s needs to be in the right system with the right personnel in place to really do his thing. Kinda like Clay Matthews. Clay is in a zone blitzing system with a nasty Cullen Jenkins and Co. occupying blockers so he can do his thing.

Same here but I don’t think he’ll ever be a bust. He’ll end up average, he seems to have a good football IQ so it keeps him ahead of the Gholstons of the world.
