The Jets may not be as blue collar as they used to be, but their fan base is still as loyal as they come.

According to a recent survey conducted by the New York-based Brand Keys Inc., they are the fifth most loyal fan base in the NFL. Bloomberg says Brand Keys Inc. compiled the 19th annual Sports Loyalty Index by surveying 250 fans in each team’s market and assessing the data based on factors driven by on-field success, fan bonding with players and the franchise’s history and tradition. A club’s effort and sense of teamwork also can have an effect.

Here are the top five NFL teams as rated by sports loyalty index:

1. New England Patriots
2. Pittsburgh Steelers
3. Indianapolis Colts
4. Green Bay Packers
5. New York Jets

Funny enough, we've had these debates many times on GGN. We have actually keyed in on four of those five teams -- only overlooking the Colts. Those teams listed should be a surprise to no one. Am a bit shocked that the Giants did not make the list, though.

Looks like a close second for Big Blue -- just like the NFL Playoffs last season, when they just missed the cut. It's a new era of football, and the Jets and their fans are very alive and kicking (sorry, Mike Francesa and Pat Hanlon).
