From what I see written about Kyle Wilson, it's as though we were expecting to draft Revis 2.0.
What were you expecting of Wilson? To beat out Revis or Cromartie for a starting spot? He's a first year corner, one of the most difficult positions to transfer from college to the NFL. The players are faster, a lot more precise route runners, and have better hands. Not only that, but he had to do it in the slot while he had played college in Revis' #1 position. Considering you're comparing him to two of the top CBs in the league, he did was pretty good. In the Bills game, when he got to start his typical #1 position, he played lights out. Expect that to continue as he grows into the slot and maybe even the #2 spot if Cromartie leaves. I think Revis has spoiled us a bit so that we can't see the true talent Wilson has. He's going to be absolutely fine, if not one of the better corners in the league. Did he reach McCourty levels last year? No, but 1) McCourty was drafted higher and is theoretically better as a result, and 2) McCourty had the entire year to get better while Wilson was relegated to the bench because he was competing against much better competition. The Patriots defense sucks, so of course McCourty was going to get more opportunities to play and get better.
