DAY 2 OF THE COMBINE QB/WR/RB

Day two was chuck full of talent that we should absolutly be looking at. QB, WR, and RB are all positions we could use someone in. If we cut LT, we will be looking for a 3rd RB to round off our backfield. If we lose Braylon, we will be in the market for a WR. A backup QB is also something worth investing in, since neither of our backups are anyone we can trust. Because RB, and WR might be more pressing needs than OL and TE. I will mention a few more names of interest.

QB

Best Top Ranked Player:

Christian Ponder Height: 6-2. Weight: 229 Florida State: Ponder was the best QB at the combine as far as throwing goes. This probably has more to do with the kind of offense he played in. He knew how to take a snap and drop back. Pretty much everyone else played in a spread offense.

Best Unknown Player:

Ricky Stanzi Height: 6-4. Weight: 223 Iowa: He also played very well like Ponder. Again, this probably has more to do with the offense he plays in. There were a lot of QBs that had great measurable stats like Newton, but I put more stock in the throwing drills.

Best Player Available At Our Pick:

Ryan Mallett Height: 6-7. Weight: 253 Arkansas: Mallett has all the tools to be a good NFL QB. So he does a little drugs, so does Holmes, and we love him. In all seriousness, we won't be going after a QB in round 1.

WR

Best Top Ranked Players:

Julio Jones Height 6-4 Weight: 220 Alabama: Wow, is the only word to describe Jones' performance. He might not be able to overtake Green for the 1st WR, but he absolutly brought up the question.

Leonard Hankerson Height 6-2. Weight: 205 Miami: The one question people had for Hankerson, was his speed. He answered that question with a great time at the Combine. That plus his great game tape might push him into the late 1st early 2nd.

Best Unknown Players:

Edmund Gates Height 6-0. Weight: 189 Abilene Christian: Gates was tied for 1st in 40 times. He also excelled in many of the other drills and workouts. He has decent height also, and can be a very serviceable receiver.

Randall Cobb Height: 5-11. Weight:: 188 Kentucky: This guy is getting comparisons to Brad Smith. He does it all, and has better hands than Smith. There is no way he makes it out of the 2nd round.

Best Player Available At Our Pick:

Jonathan Baldwin Height: 6-5. Weight: 225 Pittsburgh: He has all of the tools to be a number WR on any team. He even ran really well in the 40 which is surprising for a man of his size.

Leonard Hankerson Height 6-2. Weight: 205 Miami: I already touched on Hankerson before, and some people have Torry Smith as a late 1st also, but Hankerson is someone who can be a great WR for us. Smith is more of a project.

RB

Best Top Ranked Players:

Mark Ingram Height: 5-10. Weight: 215 Alabama: Ingram was the top rated RB coming into the draft, and will leave the draft as the top rated RB. He didn't do anything spectacular, but stayed consistent. Consistency is important to me.

Mikel Leshoure Height: 6-0. Weight: 230 Illinois: I have been following Leshoure for a while now. He did an amazing job at Illinois, and I believe can be an every down back. He is also pretty fast for a guy of his size, which should be scary for teams facing him.

Best Unknown Players:

Shane Vereen Height: 5-10. Weight: 205 California: Vereen isn't really an unknown guy, but doesn't get the credit that he deserves. He did a wonderful job at the Combine. His speed, and footwork was impressive and fun to watch.

Dion Lewis Height: 5-8. Weight: 195 Pittsburgh: Lewis may not have had the best 40 time, but he impressed in the drills. His quick cuts were flawless and impressive. He didn't do too bad at catching also.

Best Player Available At Our Pick:

Mikel Leshoure Height: 6-0. Weight: 230 Illinois: RB is not a 1st round need for us, but if we were to somehow get Leshoure, I wouldn't be upset at all. This guy is quite the find.

Ryan Williams Height: 5-10. Weight: 206 Virginia Tech: It's a tight race between Mikel Leshoure and Ryan Williams to be the No. 2 running back. They are different kinds of RBs, but both would be very serviceable to any team.
