The breaking sports news is that Donovan McNabb is on his way out of Minnesota this week. While I'm sure many fans would want to have a suitable backup for Mark Sanchez in case he starts struggling again, I am not one of them.
Although there have been questions as to whether Mark Sanchez can lead this team to the playoffs for a 3rd straight year, I am not sure having a QB with as much name recognition as McNabb coming in and starting trouble - intentional or otherwise.
McNabb still has talent, there is little question of that. And with this offense, he may even flourish, but Rex Ryan and Mike Tannenbaum (and much more relevantly, Woody Johnson) believe that Sanchez is the guy, and don't want the media to even get a sniff of a potential QB controversy.
Don't get me wrong, from a game-play point of view I would love to have McNabb on the bench or even on the starting roster. But for a "looking towards the future" point of view, it would really only damage the team.
I say we don't put a waiver claim on him. What do you think?
