I'm sure this has been reported many times elsewhere, but why not again. The Jets are averaging 3 points of 1st quarter scoring for the year, and have lead at the end of the quarter only twice, against Jax and Miami (thanks to Revis). Among the stats of offensive ineptitude not scoring a TD in the first Quarter for the last 8 games has to be the most blatant. I know there is so much piling on of Schottenheimer, but OCs script the first few series usually, and these plays reflect the area of the game which express the OC's game plan, the entire week's preparation. One would expect that here is where you introduce things that the opponent's defense then would have to adjust to. To have what is supposed to be a top of the league defense and to be unable to come out of the first Quarter with a lead or a TD is as big a weakness of this team as there might be. Play uphill all game, and your margin for error shrinks dramatically.
On the bright side, this means that this team has been struggling hard all season long, and if they ever get it together they would be mentally tough. But that is only a very thin silver lining on a very dark cloud that remains heavy above the Jets.
